Machas, next month's going to get waaaaay indie. Bangalore venue CounterCulture is set to host the Indie March Festival, a month-long celebration of indie music. Every weekend, the venue will host three gigs (on Friday, Saturday and Sunday) featuring awesome indie acts from all over the country. Now in its eighth edition, the JD Rock Awards 2013 will take place at Bandra's Mehboob Studios on February 22, 2013. Wild City has partnered with gig venue CounterCulture and HUB, India's first anthology of electronic music, to launch Epoch, an annual gig that will showcase the best new alternative Indian music of the year. Germany-based jazz fusion musician TL Mazumdar has been nominated for the Bremer Jazzpreis 2012 . TL Mazumdar is currently working on his sophomore studio album, playing some shows in Europe, and plans to visit India soon. He's based in Germany, for now, and has lived in North Africa, UK and India while growing up - all which have contributed to his musical influences. The most notable indie music currently doing the rounds in the country has been made on computers at home. These bedroom artists share an aesthetic far from the venue-centric Indian indie ‘establishment’, opting to juggle diverse influences and base their sound on experimentation.
