When I was reading through the list of this year's nominees for the Hard Rock/Metal category of the Grammys, I was shocked to see that the first four bands announced are actually modern metal bands performing original songs (and not covers, like years past). Just as I was about to give the Grammy voters some ...

Well there it is. The Grammy. The award that artists strive to win and the one that bloggers and fans hate. Primarily because, as fans, we feel that OUR favorite bands deserve all the accolades and fuck the rest. But this award ceremony offers us a place to vent our frustrations and reaffirm our hatred for genres and artists we can't stand. There's gonna be a lot of hate for one Justin Bieber again...even if he isn't nominated for anything. Regardless, it's my job to make sure all of you freaks know [...]

Words: Geraint Ellis (guest contributor from The Midweek Mixtape) On my ninth birthday, I got a Sony Walkman. The shiny black discus became my sole and trusted accomplice – everywhere I went, battling through the rain and gloom, that little machine whirred and overheated and filled my ears with the snarl of Oasis , the gentle thrashing of Sum 41 and, once or twice, the factory produced pop of Blue . It devoured batteries in milliseconds and ruined every [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Sum 41 's Deryck Whibley and Japan don't seem to go well together of late. The band -- reportedly the first international act to play Sendai, Japan following the country's devastating earthquake and tsunami in March -- performed last week (May 18) in Sapporo in support of their 'Screaming Bloody Murder' album when Whibley apparently collapsed on stage. "Deryck collapses halfway through the show and [...]

Screaming Bloody Murder is the fifth studio album by Canadian rock band Sum 41, released on March 29, 2011, after many delays. It was the band's second album produced by the band's frontman Deryck Whibley and recorded as a three piece, and is the first album by the band since 2007's Underclass Hero which marks the longest gap between two Sum 41 albums. It is Sum 41's heaviest album to date and heavier than their previous album Underclass Hero due to the gloomy lyrics in the new album. Even though new lead guitarist Tom Thacker was already a part of [...]

Hmm. I'm getting a very strange sort of déja vu here. And it's not that I've heard this song before, it's more subtle than that. It's more like I'm sitting on the school bus in 2002, maybe 2003, and it's playing on the radio, or something like it anyway, and maybe it's a bit sunny, and I'm nodding along and probably thinking about girls and homework and how unfair everything is, and... Sorry. Where was I? Read more..
