Today I present an album of punk-rock celebration, as today marked the end of my last final. As of tonight, I am officially a senior in college. This is good for me because it means I'm about 900% less stressed than I was this time a week ago, and it's good for you because now you get to enjoy significantly more in-depth commentary and blogging form yours truly, starting with this entry here. On their breakthrough album, Sum 41 present a punk-rock attack with all the juvenile attitude and excitement that The Beastie Boys injected into [...]
Saturday's "surprise guest" at the two-day parking-lot festival known as the Bamboozle was introduced with the three words "Don't," "Stop," and "Believin'," and from my vantage point in the crowd-which rendered the men muscling through four of Journey's hits onstage into something resembling very animated Berzerk robots-I thought that I was actually watching the San Francisco band collect a big, yet sorta-strange, paycheck. As it turned out, the band that I was singing along with was actually a really, really convincing tribute band . (Of course, some smart-asses out there will assert that [...]
It's hard to believe that Huntington Beach's flyest white guys have been a band for almost 25 years now. But, come May 15th, The Offspring will in fact prove this when it kicks off the two month, 37-date "The Shit Is Fucked Up" tour in Nashville, Tennessee. "President" Dexter Holland (vocals, guitar) announced the tour in a mock State of the Union Address that was posted as a widget on their official website. The fun runs through July 18th and will feature its fair share of punk contemporaries. Alkaline Trio [...]
The Offspring tour dates w/ Alkaline Trio, Street Dogs, DKM, Pennywise The Offspring will hit the road this May for their first full North American tour in nearly 4 years, joined by Alkaline Trio, Street Dogs, Dropkick Murphys, Pennywise, Sum 41 and Shiny Toy Guns on different dates. The announcement came via the band's just unveiled " Shit Is Fucked Up " tour widget featuring a mock "presidential address" by Dexter Holland (vocals, guitar). View the widget now on www.offspring.com . [...]

New Found Glory Not Without A Fight Epitaph Records 09 March 2009 by Hugh Platt By calling their sixth (who'd have thought!) studio album Not Without A Fight , perhaps Florida's New Found Glory have finally realised that they're always going to struggle to assert their own identity against the mass opposition they face in the great war of pop-punk. They don't [...]
MetalSucks Maniac Matt Fields sent us the below clip this morning, bringing up all sorts of repressed demons I'd been trying to forget for years. I can't say I'm at all surprised that Tommy Lee agreed to play with these douche chills - after all, Lee is an even bigger whore than Pamela Anderson - [...]
Legendary English rock venue, Astoria Theatre, is closing its doors after 33 years. The building is one of 13 scheduled for demolition to provide for improvements on the railway. The Astoria was...
If even Madonna and Guy can't make marriage work, even with the support of bottles and bottles of Kabbalah water and almost totally separate lives, what hope is there for anyone? But here is a heartwarming tale of young couples making sanctified union work to their advantage - Deryck Whibley and Sum 41 have rejected rumours about a crack in their marriage: On October 20th the National Enquirer issued a gossip story surrounding Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 and his wife Avril Lavigne. For the record we strongly deny the inference of martial problems [...]
![Celebrating 20 Years Of Modern-Rock Countdowns, From Siouxsie To Staind [Corporate Rock Still Sells]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1242125_lg.jpg)
Many people find it hard to tell the great from the godawful when it comes to 21st-century mainstream rock. To help figure out which is which, here's "Corporate Rock Still Sells," where Al "GovernmentNames" Shipley examines what's good, bad, and ugly in the world of rock and roll. This time around, he celebrates the 20th anniversary of Billboard 's Modern Rock chart by cherry-picking some of its most oddly notable chart-toppers: Last month, the Hot 100—the big cheese of Billboard 's singles charts—turned 50, and the publication's [...]
In what has been a fairly busy week at Popwreckoning, a bit of sad news slipped through the cracks. I was completely unaware, until earlier today, that longtime producer Jerry Finn, 39, had passed away after being removed from life supports needed from complications suffered from a massive brain hemorrhage suffered in July of [...]

I'm not gonna do an albums of the year list because there were hardly any full albums that I really got into. Of Montreal, Tegan and Sara, The Maccabees, Paramore and...thats about it. There were lots of albums I listened to, but hardly anything that I went back to over and over throughout the year. So that's that. There were, however, a lot of songs that I was really excited about this year. Separate from the album they appear on. I'd go back to these before the rest of the album. They defined 2007 more than any individual album, save [...]
Not quite the best picture of Ms. Van der Woodsen. And honestly not quite the best name either. The show made a point, as the books do, to make all the characters come from money with family names that sound like they would have inherited money. And although the show has a lot to do with teenage romance and love triangles, the issues of money, drug abuse, trust funds, social class stratification, and sex run rampant throughout the mix. And speaking of mixes, this is the only the second or third time I've had anything good [...]
Remember when bands with studio number names were cool? Remember pop-punk and mall-ratting? Remember how cool 2001 was before September? We do. But we don't think it had anything to do with Sum 41. But then again, we are those guys posting an mp3 for you all to download of the lead single from their latest "oh-my-god-i-luv-NOFX-for-real z" lowest common denominator yet major label offering of the same name. Plus, that Indian dude with the real guitar abilities has apparently left the band for good. It's okay guys. Hopefully [...]
Sum-41 Track A new acoustic track from Sum 41 called " So Long, Goodbye " has appeared online , it's reportedly about Dave Brown leaving the band. --- Greeley Estates Loses 2 Greeley Estates loses guitarist Dallas and bassist John . Read their statement below: [First off, thank you all for being so loyal and supportive [...]
Come to think about it, I must come off to some as quite a bore...Well I am most certainly a mellow brew to say the least...But I do rock out on a daily basis even if it is just for a moment. I must admit the rock side of me is bit more mainstream than I would like it to be, but I do try to expand my horizons as much as possible. I suppose the phrase "rock out" is really quite relative...For me?
