Another variety show, no particular theme. It was set to be a sunny weekend, and that meant hitting the road. After a late Friday night at the station, I woke up early, grabbed my bike and went on a solid 10 mile ride. It was the first of the sort for 2012; the first of many. I need to get in shape for the 200 mile Seattle to Portland ride in July. Just about half way, I paused to snap the shot above. The Skagit Valley is known [...]

Alex Yaker is one of those way-busy Philadelphia musicians. Most recently, you've probably seen him rock his bass-playing swagger in Summer Fiction. In the past he's performed with Grammar Debate, The Yaker Bros and done a bit of production with Surreal Sound Studios. With everything going on, it's not unsurprising that his own project, Roomtone , only makes periodic appearances, but whenever it emerges, it's worth the wait. This weekend, the band Yaker also refers to as "The Official Indie BossaNova Goosebump Machine" plays its first show in over a year and a half at Johnny Brenda's, [...]

In the meantime, you can listen to and download a trio of live recordings from Summer Fiction's performance. Confira as oito melhores canções natalinas lançadas [...]

Here's a great Christmas Eve tune I stumbled upon yesterday from Philly's Summer Fiction . Enjoy! More Summer Fiction: website [...]
It's incredible how many lovely covers of traditional holiday songs - Christmas and everything else under the sun - popped into our inbox this year. Just as family get-togethers, work potlucks and visions of sugarplums are traditions every December, so are the renditions of classics like "Frosty The Snowman" and "White Christmas" by underground talents [...]
Bill Ricchini is stealing our hearts yet again, just in time for the holidays. A sweet lullaby of a tune, Summer Fiction's "Christmas Eve For Two" is a song requesting the presence of a loved one amidst everything so awfully cute about the night before Christmas. The track is slow and mesmerizing with the minimal [...]

Photo by Tanya Dakin Bill Ricchini’s first album as Summer Fiction is just over a year old, but the frontman is no stranger to the Philly music scene. Though he has released albums under his own name, Ricchini shifted toward a more conceptual dream-pop gaze when writing Summer Fiction's self-titled debut, resulting in a unified set of songs offering Lolita -style narratives and a mix of instruments to accessorize the piano and guitar-based tunes. The music is nothing if not pretty; while lyrically manipulated by adolescent, girlish things like make-up and first boyfriends, [...]

Photo by Tanya Dakin Summer Fiction is an indie act from Philadelphia led by singer-songwriter Bill Ricchini. Summer Fiction's self-titled debut album—which was critically acclaimed by Vogue, New York Magazine, NPR, Magnet, and picked as one of 20102s best records by The Philadelphia Inquirer— loosely follows a young girl’s coming of age, but reads like the journal entries of the guys who fall for her. (In fact, most of the songs are about girls—with more than a few lyrical references to make-up, lipstick, and mascara.) The songs on the album were written to flow [...]

Pine trees and icicles and carolers - check. But can we please just talk for a moment about how it was -2 degrees the other night in Colorado? TWO BELOW, with howling winds. I like the beer , but man alive that makes for some cold sleeping. All the golden loveliness of autumn is gone, and in its place we have this icy, silent cocoon all around us, luminescent and silvery-blue. Perhaps I just have to survive these next two weeks of school, and maybe go on a little cookie-baking binge, and [...]
Last year's breakout band Summer Fiction returns this year with a great Christmas single to celebrate the season. It's a free download from their bandcamp, but you can snag it here. It's a must-have for any of you looking to spice up your Christmas mixes. MP3: Summer Fiction - Christmas Eve For Two Summer Fiction [...]

Genre: Indie Pop Next Christmas thing. This time by Summer Fiction. It's way too cheesy, really. It's not bad. A nice ballad in end fifties "a doo wop wop" style, but mixed with WHAM! "Last Christmas" and the jingle bells stuff that sounds like a Reindeer ride... Oh no! Please... It's ... just cheesy... [ This is the summary, read the whole story on Website ]
