Image From Here Yeah, I said I would change up things on my style of posting and I said it would be next week. At the time, I meant this week but the truth is things will probably not change too much until next week (starting in August). That's just the way it is... He thinks he is the One. Everything he says or does is golden. His ego is as wide as the Grand Canyon. He is involved in everything and always seems to choose the right path. And he [...]

Our buddies at Lujo Records have given us a little taste of what they've got going on these days in the form of the Lujo Records Spring 2009 Sampler . It's got some pretty great tracks, and it's comprised of their "current roster ( The Dark Romantics , Pomegranates , Death House Chaplain , Mouse Fire , Baby Teeth , etc.), and also tunes from the Lujo newbies [...]

Well, its been cloudy and raining today here. We need the rain since we have had a dry spell for quite awhile. I guess this is the dry season down here right now. Not much happening on this end. Been considering joining up with Twitter. Not quite sure how it works though. I know you can Twitter via a computer on the internet but what about via the mobile phone? I have a Blackberry phone but the only problem is I don't have the internet package. So, all I can do is make phone calls and SMS text messages. So, [...]

Tokyo Police Club Day three started just like day two, early and very hot. By this time I was already very sunburnt, perpetually hungover for days, and tired, but it was time to march on. Summerbirds In The Cellar kicked off the day with a set that started before noon. Hardly 15 people were there at the beginning, but by the time they left the stage the field was packed. It was great to finally hear this band on a good quality sound system. I have been hyping this Floridian band since I discovered [...]

Dead Confederate @ SXSW 2008 Three of the Southeast's finest bands are hitting the road and linking up for some killer shows. Dead Confederate has already been playing some concerts this year, but they will surely play a ton more. They have a great blog that you should check out to follow all of their adventures. Dead Confederate Tour Dates: 2/19 Seattle, WA @ Queen Anne Store 2/20 Leavenworth, WA @ Steven’s Pass Ski Resort 2/21 Sacramento, CA @ Boardwalk [...]
So here is a playlist comprised of many of my favourite songs from the year. Not all of my favs are here, but I think all of the essentials are in it. I tried my best to build this as a flowing playlist more than just a collection of songs, so the order and even some of the selections reflect that. I really need to do more mixtapes. Based on Hypemachine/elbow popularity, I know everyone loves that Fleet Foxes song, but I decided instead to treat you to a better song from one of the bands that [...]

Florida's space rockers Summerbirds in the Cellar used crazy gear like Korg's Kaoss Pad (a favorite of Radiohead's Johnny Greenwood) and a total of three synthesizers all live to make surprizing and well thought out tunes. I Should've Shut My Window Behold the Wolf The Hero Boys Fake Angel Skin Lonely Sleeping Giant and as always, you can download the entire session in a [...]

Adam and Bradley spare over the highly anticipated release of TV on the Radio's newest offering, taunt Florida's Summerbirds in the Cellar, and dismiss Jenny Lewis' solo recording. Tracks played on the show: Sort Sol - White Shirt [download at It's a Trap ] Blitzen Trapper - Furr [download at Sub Pop ] Dressy Bessy - Simple Girlz [download at You Ain't No Picasso ] TV on the Radio - Golden Age [buy Dear Science, ] Summerbirds in the Cellar - Fake [...]

Despite hurricane season, Florida seems to be a grand ole place. Sunshine, Disney World, The Keys, and of course our own JB. We can now add Summerbirds In The Cellar to that list because their music seems to shine on my cloudiest of days (it's pretty chilly out right now). Summerbirds In The Cellar gained some accolades at this past year's SXSW and opening for R.E.M. and I can certainly see why. They brandish heavily addictive indie pop like Mobius Band or Ra Ra Riot. Later this year or early next year this trio of Brad Register, Curtis Brown, and [...]

Tonight in Baltimore the Ottobar has an awesome show with Matt Pryor and Kevin Devine. If you head down south to DC don't miss Summerbirds In The Cellar at the Red and the Black . Finally if you take the northern route to Philly, Johnny Brenda's has The War On Drugs and Windsor For The Derby. mp3: Summerbirds In The Cellar - Wicked World mp3: The War On Drugs - Taking The Farm mp3: Matt Pryor - Confidence Man mp3: [...]
If there was one band that made the biggest splash at Corndogorama this year, it was Orlando's Summerbirds In The Cellar . They just out-of-nowhere blew it up, and we weren't the only one's who were impressed . Right afterwards, I bought both of their kickass LPs, With The Hands Of The Hunter It All Becomes Dead and their newest, Druids . Both became an intregal part of my summer 2008 soundtrack. So many times I was rolling around the city at night having a great time blasting this one: [...]

Alright, kiddies! Bands, beers, and battered, deep fried meat on a stick means it’s time for everyone’s favorite ADD-friendly fest. Corndogorama is near. We’ll be keeping a close eye on everything and reporting here throughout the weekend. We're excited about moving through the flurry of fest season. With over 100 artists and bands at The 'Rama, it's mandatory to bend your head around a few things. So, here's some things: Thursday Don’t F@#k This Up: If your job sucks, Thursday feels [...]

I just ordered my copy of the new Summerbirds In The Cellar CD: Druids . You should do the same . I haven't been this excited for a new release in a LONG time. I had the pleasure of seeing these guys live at SXSW and they put on a show that rivaled that of Muse and sounded flawless. Chances are you can only catch them live if you live in Florida or Georgia, but let's hope they go on tour. I'm usually not one to [...]

This post is long, and overdue, but I wanted to be thorough and include all the bands I saw. I missed most of Wednesday due to work, but packed in enough free shows Thurs.-Sun. to more than make up for it, although I am getting kind of old and took it easy in the evenings for the most part. I've finally gone through hundreds of pics (click on pictures below for larger image), and will include mp3s from each band below and hopefully a link to some of their live SXSW sets, since they did almost all give me free [...]
EAR FARM's Three for Free: three EF approved, free and legal MP3s posted each week. This week - three from the bands opening for R.E.M. Listen: Summerbirds in the Cellar - "Wicked World" Johnathan Rice - "We're All Stuck Out In The [...]

There is no excuse for staying in the house this weekend people. There is just too damn much going on in our fine city this weekend and the weather is, all things considered, gonna be pretty mild. So, let's get down to the haps... Thursday Night Some of the people involved with Reax have started booking shows on Thursday nights at Push Ultra Lounge in Downtown St. Pete. This Thursday night Summerbirds [...]

I have been floundering for a way to describe Summerbirds' overall sound on their newest effort, Druids , for a few days now. Polished, tight, haunting, dark and controlled all serve the purpose but fail in some manner or another. Then, I saw the perfect word in another review; deliberate. As soon as I saw it I knew that was the word I had been looking for. I guess that's why some people get paid to write and others, like me, have to provide their own forum in which to write. There it is though. The signature sound of [...]
