This has been a great year for us @ Together In Digital Dreams . We've heard tons upon tons of amazing [for lack of a better word] music and met lots of beautiful people. If this year in music is any indication for what's ahead, then we're expecting a slew of wonderful releases in 2010. We're also looking forward to expanding the blog a little bit but that's even more news than I want to indulge you with, so keep them pants on; it ain't new years eve yet. As a going away gift I put [...]

To paraphrase Steve Earle´s famous remark on Townes Van Zandt: Will Oldham aka Bonnie Prince Billy is one the greatest modern-day musicians around, and I´ll stand on Beck´s coffee table in my Onitsuka Tigers and say that. But hey, he´ll probably agree. Anyway: Bonnie Prince Billy will soon release his second album of the year, and that´s great news. Entitled Funtown Comedown , and available on vinyl and as a download only, it´ll feature a mix of Bonnie classics and covers performed live with Louisville locals The Picket Line. So you´d [...]

As we speak, Sundowners full length "Gnome & Glacier" is becoming an LP due to the courteous acts of Dirt Cult Records. If you order one now you will be entered into a contest that will qualify you into the chance at winning a test pressing copy of the album. Head on over to Dirt Cult Records website to pick one up. Also there is a package deal going on that will save you some money if you order the Shark Pants 73 "automatic pinner" and the Sundowners LP together. Check it! Dirt Cult Records [...]
The Free Music Archive, a new collaborative project from WFMU, has almost doubled in size since launching in beta this April. With nearly 10,000 curated mp3s, there's a lot to scope out, which is one reason I've been relatively absent from Beware of the Blog recently... well, I'm back with this weekly feature that aims to highlight some "hot new added". Of course I'd rather just highlight everything, but you can keep tabs on that yourself by subscribing to the FMA's Recently Added RSS feed . Or follow us on twitter . Anyway, let's see [...]
Sometimes being straightforward is the best way to explain yourself. And when it comes to contemporary singer/songwriters, few are as straightforward as Nik Freitas. The production around his songs involves the usual suspects: guitar, piano, drums, strings, and brass. Though this method doesn't have much in the way of novelty, Nik doesn't need it. There's no flash required, because the tunes stand so well on their own. Think the Beatles with less studio trickery. Think Bob Dylan with a more fragile voice. Think Ben Kweller with better lyrics. Nik's latest album is Sun [...]
Video: Sundowner performing untitled new song beautiful. cant wait
Critically judging albums for their "worth" or "merit" is inherently ridiculous. What one person loves another will undoubtedly hate. Yeah, I really like all the records on this list, but putting them into some sort of order presents a challenge especially when including multiple genres. What do you think? Comments? Questions? Concerns? Ok. 40. Rocky Votolato - The Brag & Cuss ( Barsuk ) MP3 | Postcard From Kentucky Rocky's [...]
Chicagoan Chris McCaughan has been a staple in bands around Chicago for as long as I can remember. He's done time in bands like Tricky Dick, The Broadways, and (currently) The Lawrence Arms, but has recently released his first solo album as Sundowner . Instead of gruff and melodic punk rock, Sundowner spits fire in a much quieter way. Armed with only his voice, an acoustic guitar, and a little help from some friends, Chris bares his soul and exorcises his demons. The album is called Four One Five Two and its [...]

Chris McCaughan, one-third of fan favorites around these parts , released his solo debut today, Four One Five Two . The fine folks at Red Scare and Mutiny PR have floated us another piece of Sundowner (Mr. McCaughan's solo nome de plume ) material for ya'll. The track "Midsummer Classic" is the fifth track on Four One Five Two and features nice piano backdrop accompanied by what almost sounds like a ukulele. It's a nice departure for the middle of the album and a nice gift from the [...]
