UK trio Sunless '97 (@sunless97) is set to debut their new double A-side single on June 18 via Not Even Music . With co-production and mixing done by David Wrench ( Caribou, Bear In Heaven ), the tracks are guaranteed to have a cohesive, quality sound. The two songs, "Body Weather" and "Azul", are composed of organic and synthetic instrumentation adorned with harmonic vocals, all woven into a stream of lush pop lucidity. The songs are bright without being too sugary and leave a memorable imprint. After just a few listens, I'm [...]
Sunless 97 are a trio from London doing their best to make summery music. 'Body Weather' somehow manages to be both uplifting and optimistic while at the same time carrying sad vibes throughout. It's a strange song, but one that's utterly addictive. Expect to here much more from them. Listen [Read more]

Sunless 97 Body Weather is the dreamily pleasant song from this London trio which spends four minutes courting us with beautiful synths and vocals before sealing the deal with a Ridiculous Saxophone Solo. I blame M83. Opossum The debut single from this New Zealand band sounds like Beck collaborating with Air. Featuring the talents of Bic Runga and a former member of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Blue Meanies is a funky phosphorescent psychedelic jam. BLUE MEANIES by [...]

Check out some fresh new sounds courtesy of Sunless '97 which will almost definitely put a smile on your face*, especially if the sun is out which it is for me at least. (*Don't hold us accountable if your weather/mood is not bettered by this song). A glorious piece of upbeat music that's starts off nice and slow but builds into a brightly wonderful crescendo of noise before some gloriously used Saxophone takes centre stage towards the end. The weekend is nearing and this song just made it seem a whole lot close. The track [...]

Tweet Back in October we wrote the following about Sunless '97 : Shimmery metallic vocals, irreverent & peculiar beats and everything sort of floating and pinging around in a quite brilliant fashion Now they've taken the shimmery vocals & peculiar beats and added... a Saxamaphone. Yep, this is the new wave, the next hype, the latest sizzle on the steak - Sax. You heard it here first. Sax rules, don't mess. Soon [...]
We don't know much about the new electro group Sunless '97 – it's a lady and a gent, Alice and Ed, whose SoundCloud page gives their location as the very broad "London, Mexico." The duo makes music that, based on our first taste "Body Weather," is halfway between Purity Ring and Battles , by which we mean as sexy as it is weird as it is maximalist and complex. El trio londinense Sunless '97 nos presenta "Body Weather" rola que saldrá el próximo junto a "Azul". La rola es bastante buena, pero en cuanto entra el sax del camerunés Yebga Likoba se vuelve perfecta.

[ IMG via/ ] A round-up of sorts of the best bits of new music to have emerged within the past week - all of which I forgot to tell you about in the first place. If you haven't visited MFM at all this week up to now, well, there's plenty to catch up on: Jayyeah , especially. The Dirty Magazines make scuzzy garage rock to ease the pain. And ILLLS just blew my delicate little brain with ' Teeth '. But here are [...]

Yes, yes, yes. This is exactly what I've needed. Appropriately named band and song title. Check . South-American steel drum synth. Check . Mysterious and beautiful vocals. Double Check . Sunless '97 is made up by three hairful Londoners laying vocals and emoting sol de la música as if their feet were infinitely buried in the sand. This comes from their upcoming Moshi Moshi 7-inch .

The boy/girl rapport between the both amorously and harmoniously aligned pairing of Ed and Alice is, needless to say, pivotal to the course of Sunless '97 . New cut Body Weather, one half of a limited 7" out June 18th on boutique indie Not Even , sees the balance tip toward the ethereality provided by the latter's intelligent, emotive vocal soars however as jelly-like synths wobble and Yebga Likoba hoots a sax solo – the like last heard soundtracking televised daytime dross at some point toward the end of the last century – to combine in a resplendent [...]

Were you holed up in Hackney and happened to be scouring the streets for some spick-and-spanned haunt in which to conjure papier mâché masks and the like, Apiary Studios would seem a fairly safe bet. Tonight however it's been overhauled by Dollop as impromptu bars are erected in abandoned back rooms and an unorthodox dancefloor is engineered next door. Spotlights set to an irredeemably satanic shade of sanguine, opening act o F F Love provides a comparably damnable experience: his face (perhaps appositely) obfuscated by cloth embellished with yins and yangs and his torso tattooed in love bites, [...]

Londoners Sunless '97 see their [...]

I gushed recently about Sunless '97 , and here they are again teaming up with Palmistry . With who? Palmistry - a London producer of shimmering, stammering ghost-pop with an r'n'b whiff (like a ketamined The Weeknd), stuff as fragile as a lake's first seasonal attempt at icing up. The simplest finger prod would be enough to send it all to shatters, but why would you want to do that? The latter two songs are from his EP, Cut . (via SEXBEAT ) Only one- [...]

'Winter pop'. That's how I'd like to describe Sunless '97 , so swirling and lustrous are the new London quartet's (member include Kwes ) songs on new EP Making Waves (buy here ). They're similar to Visions of Trees, but richer and less keyboard-dominated, with flightier melodies and more invention. The overall feeling is one of total comfort and cosiness - it's as if it's just you and them having a magical, secret duvet party, worlds away from the howling wind and evil men outside... Whenever I Can (Making Waves [...]
