Summer has always had a heavy influence on music artists and listeners. From the distinct mood of a song made during these sunny months to the countless anthems named after the season, many have started to connect the summer synonymously with Music Festivals. SMF seems to be an appropriate acronym. Specific to the occasion, this acronym is for Sunset Music Festival, which is being held on the May 25th for all the early birds in the music scene. Located at Raymond James Stadium in the beautiful Tampa, Florida, and with tickets on the website as cheap as $84, all the [...]

Lazy Sundays | Lazy Mondays | Lazy Whenever Really.. Yup. Friday is here and im feeling rather lazy. cannot be bothered to continue with any additional work - i just want to chillout at the beach, on my porch, at the park, anywhere there's sun! So i have compiled a three track playlist of simple, clean beats for your listening. I want you to be able to escape your surroundings (possibly an apocalypse?) and just float away into a dream. \\ ◭triangle regime◭ // lucid [...]

The Thermals: Desperate Ground – Desperate Ground is cutthroat from the first second. With their new album, The Thermals capture rawness and vulnerability at its finest. Every song contains an element of distortion, as if they are not quite sure yet whether or not your heart can take it straight-on. The distortion in a warped way, actually filters out the bullshit, and leaves you with aching realness, and a connection that will stay with you forever. Around since 2002, The Thermals are no stranger to veracity. Westin Glass (drums, vocals), Kathy [...]
Compuphonic is certainly one of the best young electronic music producers Belgium has to offer, although we must admit that the Belgian deep house scene is getting more and more interesting. Find out more about him and enjoy his deep... READ MORE

From it all starting "in a bedroom in South West London, after school, drinking too much Pepsi" to selling out shows internationally, it's fair to say that THE XX are damn hot property. They can now add to their heavy portfolio as their track 'Sunset' (from their latest record Coexist ) has been remixed by UK dance label Hot Creations co-owner, JAMIE JONES . The visuals of this YouTube upload feel as though we're looking at microscopic matter having a cheeky dance. Makes sense revealing the [...]
The xx released their second album Coexist in September of last year to critical acclaim, but despite its success the group's restrained ambient style isn't for everyone. Fortunately, Jamie Jones lends his remix talents to "Sunset" and perhaps sprinkles enough extra oomph on the Coexist track to please the skeptics. The Hot Creations labelhead reworks the bassline and introduces added drums to create an increasingly eery vibe. If you're keen on "Sunset," head over to Jones' SoundCloud for a free download of his booty mix of "Crystalised" - also orginally by The xx. Purchase: [...]
The xx - Sunset (Jamie Jones Remix) Out now via Young Turks.
New album Desperate Ground is out 4/16 via Saddle Creek.
For a band self-professedly "born to sin", irrepressibly prolific Portland trio The Thermals can quite conversely seemingly do no wrong. And with their sixth full-length Desperate Ground now looming large upon the horizon and with the gloriously sonorous Born To Kill still ringing in our ears, we've a sinuous second hunk to feast upon over the Easter weekend. The Sunset is a typically visceral, puff-chested chunk of buoyant punk during which Hutch Harris staunchly avows that "the sunsets won't pass me by again" ad infinitum in that inimitably wry vocal dryness of his though more auspicious [...]

If you're lucky enough to be in Stockholm on a clear day, head for somewhere to see amazing sunsets like these. Two places I recommend are Monteliusvägen and Norra Riddarholmshamnen .
This is only going to matter to the people who rely on an RSS service to cull through millions of websites. However, Google announced today that it'll be closing Google Reader's doors on July 1st of this year. It's total bullocks. I can't imagine Google is putting that much money into Reader, how difficult/financially arduous would it be to hire one or two engineers to oversee the product and make incremental updates? Lifehacker has a good round-up on alternative solutions and a tutorial for extracting your feed data to import into another service. I've [...]
Since its release Compuphonic's 'Sunset' has managed to clock up 3 million views on Facetube in little over 8 months. So in the interest of striking whilst the iron is hot the song has been given a suitably impressive video, courtesy of Lisbon-based film producers Salon Alpin. Think Flat Stanley on acid and it'll all make perfect sense. Directed by Simon Griesser & Philipp Comarella. And we thought we'd post the Aeroplane remix again, because it's amazing and you should buy it, or your life will empty and incomplete.

Noise Pop 2013 - Sonny & the Sunsets @ Bottom of the Hill 3/2/13 - photo by Jackie Andrews I was excited to check out Dune Rats , who came all the way out here from Australia to melt ears with their slacker rock, but a single-tracking BART train from the East Bay made me late. Luckily I was able to catch the last half of their set. Self-described as a “budstep” band, they do a pretty good job of channeling the early 90s aesthetic of Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, Nirvana, Wayne’s World [...]
