You wanna hear how oceans on other planets sound? then Safehouses by Pariah shares an example that i'd hope would be the true sound for that, the magic is the underlying synth work half way thru. Shigeto turned me onto this Mono/Poly remix of Take , [...]
Where to start—Libya in turmoil, revolution spreading like a virus from North Africa to Real Africa (and not sure whether its worse when they report it that way or when they just don't report it). CIA dudes and Pentagon officials getting exposed or mysteriously turning up dead. What is it the '60s, now? Arctic weather [...]

"OLD SKOOOOOOL!!!!!" This track needs absolutely no introduction does it???? It's totally timeless... and undisputedly, one of the many king-sized rap tracks of the nineties - bar none! Showcasing a not so much over-played mix of 'Jump,' is the Super Cat mix which you see before your eyes. It features a pleasant, but yet credible, ragga lyrical burst throughtout the mid refrain and includes plenty of wicked turntable scratches too. Anything new & additional is always welcomed to assist that never-tireless-energy that always makes us wanna go " Jump - [...]

Here's a fun stocking stuffer. I recently bought Super Cat's great early LP, Si Boops Deh! (Techniques, 1986--not to be confused with the lesser Boops! ), which features a wonderful cartoon rendition of Cat passing out money to all of his gal friends on the back cover ("boops" being Jamaican slang for "sugar daddy"). The artwork was signed "Limonious", and when I Googled the name I found The Wilfred Limonious Archive , which is a wonderful collection of the 100+ album covers designed by Limonious that so mark the style of '80s dancehall records. On the [...]
Next drop from Rockers, Vol 2: "Why? Vol. 2 is inspired by the reggae rap movement of the 1990s…this mix takes you from the streets to the dancehall and beyond! Why? Vol. 2 features rare tracks... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Supercat reference in the second joint is pretty much responsible for this post. Yup. And the joint with M.I.A. is cool too (taken from this mixtape ). Busy Signal feat. M.I.A. - " Sound of Siren " Busy Signal - " Food Fi Di Pot " Supercat feat. Heavy D - " Dem No Worry We " [+ video ]

First off, let me apologize for the lack of OSM-age last week. I hate to skip it, but time was scarce last weekend, and we wanted to ensure we got the awesome Paper Bag vinyl contest posted bright and early (as an aside, if you haven't entered that contest, do so now, as today will likely be the last day for it). But now we're back, and I wanted to return with a jumbo version to make up for last week's absence. But what to post? I was a little stumped for ideas, but [...]
An old Super Cat tune about Jamaica's colonial history to commemorate the 47th anniversary of the island's independence.
My boy just copped a whip with XO Vision and lately he's been buying up music video DVDs from the swap meet. We were just cruising around the other day, watching one that pitted Pac and B.I.G. videos back to back against each other, when all of a sudden Supercat's "Dolly My Baby" came into the mix and we both had laugh attacks. Diddy Puff Daddy's verse in this song is...well, let's just say I guarantee our Donald Trump of rap runs and hides whenever hears Cat's voice drop the intro. [...]

Hey, did you know the Olympics are on right now? In China I think. Perhaps if you're American you've heard of this young chap who is winning all the medals and making Serbian fellows cry. He's doing all right for himself I hear ( he is a Wolverine after all). But for me, the thing I'll remember about these Olympics is Usain Bolt just crushing the 100 metre final in a display unlike anything else I can remember. Surely you've seen it by now and you don't need me to tell you have amazing [...]

I think there's a general consensus about town that Kanye West's latest album, Graduation , is consistent with the high calibre of his previous two efforts. Although, (in my humble opinion of course) it sags a little in the middle, I am in agreement with the prevailing reaction. But look, we all know that Kanye's work relies heavily on samples (not that I'm complaining like) , so here's a comprehensive breakdown of tracks that make up this great record. MP3: Elton John - Someone Saved My Life Tonight [...]
Redefining the word " weekly " its been two months since the last of the promised weekly trawls through my analogue past. I should probably bin the piles of dusty VHS's but when the first one you put in comes up with some vintage punk funk go-go goodness from The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy, I just can't do it. The Word was essential " back from the pub " viewing in the 90's, with its winning combination of granny snogging, shabba ranks baiting, and debut tv appearances from the likes of Oasis and Nirvana. As Terry Christian introduces [...]
