Reading Rainbow - "Dead End" from stereogum on Vimeo. There isn't a band working right now that makes me want to pump my fist in pop-filled glee more than Reading Rainbow. Prism Eyes slapped me around and left me in a gutter with wispy strands of cotton candy hanging on to my lips, and "Dead End" [...]
Give a listen to the new RR track "Dead End". It's a sweet little pop rock number that will hopefully get you going on this extremely sunny Sunday. Unfortunately, according to Reading Rainbow's website us regular folk won't be able to grab a copy. That is a bit of a shame, but at least we can listen! Reading Rainbow - Dead End by RRPhilly
So, Reading Rainbow (somewhat) recently added guitarist Al Creedon to the band, officially making them a trio. Though recorded before Creedon was in the band, this here new track features some Creedon-crafted feedback at the beginning and end of the song. The song is on Reading Rainbow 's secret split 73 with Super Wild Horses for the HoZac Hook up Klub . I suggest you put this on repeat. Listen. Downloadable: Dead End (mp3) Reportedly, the band will be selling the HoZac Hook up Klub [...]

Time for a little bit of aural time travel. Let's look back, reflect, and contemplate... what were we listening to one year ago? Listen to the August 2010 Mix and find out. Downloadables: Golden Town (mp3) by Super Wild Horses Fried Egg (mp3) by Grass Widow I've Gotta Get (mp3) by Woven Bones Glitter (mp3) by No Age [...]

It feels like it has been awhile since we last sprung a mix on you, so today felt like a good time to unleash the June mix. It's packed with yummy pop treats, grimy lo-fi indie rock and sexy (albeit a little on the naughty side) r&b. If you have sensitive ears and would like to avoid some of the more... ahem... scandalous lyrics, I might suggest avoiding the track from The-Dream (but it is a really really good song). Anyways, there is so much here that I'm pretty sure you'll find something you like. Turntable [...]

Where were Super Wild Horses when I was covering the back of my Taurus station with Bikini Kill stickers in high school? See, the thing about Riot Grrrl, was that I never really liked the music. I stood behind what it stood for. I loved the energy, the message, the community, and so I bought albums and wore t-shirts of bands that secretly gave me a headache. Had they existed some two odd decades ago, Melbourne duo Super Wild Horses would have been my favorite band. Hot-blooded spirit and scrappy guitar licks come together [...]

Last week marked the inaugural appearance of our newest feature, Top 10 mp3s of the Week. Despite invitations to countless exclusive VIP parties (read: playing Wii with your roommate's buddy from work) we've decided to carve out some time to share a particularly abundant amount of jollies this week and, why the hell not, all weeks forthcoming. As long as there are mp3s tirelessly being showered down upon us all, we'll be here to (gently) recommend which ones to embrace with all your heart and which ones to shun forthwith. Without further ado, and in no particular order, [...]

It's time to listen to a bunch of the tracks I have not posted recently. Here is the next NOT POSTED mix. These are just a few of the songs that would get there own individual posts on here on GIMME TINNITUS, if I only had the time. You can stream all the songs in this mix using the Yahoo media player at the bottom of the page OR if you are browsing with Chrome you can play (and scrobble ) the whole page using the ex.fm extension OR [...]

When we first started doing our Musical Pairings the connection between food and music seemed obvious enough to us. After all, in my opinion, there is a lot of rock n' roll packed into most of my favorite foods. In food, as in music, an individual's style is deeply part of what they produce. Some recipes are slick and contemporary, others rustic and homey, and others yet can be loose and improvisational - just like a songwriter's music. And at Sticky Fingers Bakery in Melbourne, Australia that is true in more ways that one. Sticky Fingers is the [...]

Facebook Melbourne duo Super Wild Horses infuse garage-rock shocks with noise-pop to deliver short, sharp, catchy tracks that easily fit within the same realm as Dum Dum Girls, Reading Rainbow, maybe even Best Coast too. I don't think they've ever played the UK, they should, they'll go down a storm here. Minimal production throughout their sound is based upon a similar mould throughout, the girls voices, scuzzy guitar and flurries of stomping percussion that produces a highly energetic and extremely pleasing result. They released their debut album 'Fifteen' via US label [...]
This is the first new tune from Melbourne's lo-fi garage duo, Super Wild Horses , since they released last year's debut record, Fifteen . The girls, who share instrumental and vocal duties, have released new track "Black Book" on a split 7" with Boomgates , which is out now via Goner. Melbourne based Lo-Fi duo Super Wild Horses are back with a new single Black Book. Just the kind of track we needed to help us out of our three day weekend fog. Check it out. Super Wild Horses; Black Book

MP3: Super Wild Horses - Black Book Pretty great to hear Super Wild Horses continue to factor super bouncy, hyperactive pop into their bare bones garage rock thing. This jam, from a new split 7" with Boomgates is brief - it clocks in at just under two minutes - but the overdriven drums and discordant harmonies are a pretty refreshing change from abstract noise. Sounds like the kinda thing you could see a toddler going sick to, I guess? facebook / myspace

Any stupidface blogger can throw out their Favourite Albums of the Year list (and most do). What do you do when some (not so stupidfaced) bloggers go out and pool 120 pretty awesome people about their favourite albums and then tally the results to produce their Top 10 albums of year? Mind explosion, that's what. Oh, I didn't mention they also included free mp32s from the musicians who participated? Double mind explosion. I'm not even sure how I missed it when it was posted to one of my favourite music blogs a couple months ago. I'm [...]
