The week leading up to Yom Kippur, The Jewish Day of Atonement, is supposed to be a time for self-reflection, culminating in repentance and a plea for pardon. And though I no longer fast, or belong to a temple, in the last few years, I have continued to use the opportunity as a chance to take stock of the soul, wandering into the woods or just taking a few hours on the front porch alone to make peace with the world both inside and out. This year, it doesn't take much soul-searching to [...]
Friday night I had the pleasure of seeing "The Tedeschi Trucks Band" at The Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, WI. This super group consists of 11 of the finest musicians and artists including the husband and wife team of Derek Trucks (The Allman Brothers Band) and Susan Tedeschi. They've recently put aside their solo projects and have come together to form this amazing ensemble. What happens is pure magic!! The couple makes beautiful music together on the stage, that perhaps, only a couple can do. And the rest of the band wasn't too shabby either. [...]

Look for plenty more awesomeness from him and our Atlanta scene in the very near future! - Justin Being a Derek Trucks fanatic since around 2003, when I had just started to pick up the bottleneck style myself, I've seen and heard [...]
While the Tedeschi Trucks Band have succeeded in putting out a fantastic debut LP in Revelator, there's doubt that live is where they thrive. The dynamic drumming duo of Tyler Greenwell and J.J. Johnson along with bassist Oteil Burbridge provide deep, in-the-pocket grooves behind Susan's potent blues-laden vocals and Derek's otherworldly guitar work. The TTB fill each setlist with tunes from Revelator and covers from the likes of Sly Stone & the Family Stone (Sing a Simple Song), Jimi Hendrix (Manic Depression) and The Meters (Just Kissed My Baby), keeping the audience on their toes. [...]

The album, available in stores and online now, has been met with tremendous excitement from the media and Tedeschi Trucks Band's fan base alike. Praised as a "masterpiece" by Rolling Stone Magazine in a FOUR STAR REVIEW, USA Today called the album simply "Outstanding" and the first single, "Learn How to Love," has been embraced at radio consistently being one [...]
It's been a busy few months for husband and wife band leaders Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks as their Tedeschi Trucks Band project put out a sensational debut album in Revelator last month and have recently returned from a well-received European tour. On Sunday, the Tedeschi Trucks Band will kick off a lengthy tour of the States that brings them to such storied venues as the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, the Tower Theater in Philadelphia and the Beacon in NYC before it wraps up in September. It's been more than hard recently to have faith that new school could ever come close to, much less equal, the quality of old school rock and blues music. The Tedeschi Trucks Band's debut CD Revelator (Sony Masterworks) clears up any doubt that the traditional style is alive and thriving. Melding Southern blues, funk, soul and rock, it is so exciting to hear a band that sounds like a throwback to a time long past but exists in the living present. Susan Tedeschi has been a longtime fixture on the blues scene as a [...]
We have long been fans of Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi in their own ventures and projects, so now that we have the full fledged collaboration we have been waiting for, we are needless to say pretty excited. The new album doesn't disappoint long time fans of the Soul Stew revival, and finds the husband and wife duo both doing what they do best. Top that off with a large, and rather kick ass band and we've got ourselves a winner. While Derek is certainly channeling ol' Skydog, and Susan's vocals will be sure to draw Bonnie [...]
