Sushi had the right idea with its name, but it could've been more specific – if aquatics and eating was its thing, the short-lived Oakland band should've called itself The Twee and Cake. As is, though, Sushi's one and only album, 2000's The Quiet Space Between Houses , does lean heavily on the jazz-tinged indie pop of genre mainstays the Sea and Cake, matching sweet, shimmering guitars with tart female vocals more indebted to twee goddess Pam Berry than S&C frontman Sam Prekop. Casual cool and fey fussiness makes for a winning combination on songs such as "Strip [...]

i sink so deep in you, you gonna save me or not? Kyle Andrews - Sushi Alright, start prepping some fresh panties NOW cause this one made me wet for sure. Who the fuck is Kyle Andrews and how did he make this killer song without it taking over the world and ending racial conflict forever? This morning I almost killed myself dancing in socks on my tile floor. Now don't let the day-glo ghettoblaster cover art and hyper-hypo dance pop fool you, Real Blasty digs deeper than [...]

Sushi
Better than cold fish. Sushi were a six-piece Bay area pop band with an all too short lifespan. They released an EP on Swingset Records in 1999 (which I've never heard) and an album on Shelflife in 2000 titled The Quiet Space Between Houses , along with a couple comp appearances. Later in 2000 they called it quits, but core members Jeff and Jared started a new band called The History of Utah. They supposedly had a single slated for Shelflife, but to my knowledge that never saw the light of day. I wonder if [...]

Kyle Andrews - Sushi
New Music | Kyle Andrews Right click save as. Do it. You won't regret it. It might bring back some fuzzy memories of Game Boy games to start with but ignore that for one second and try and focus. It is Monday remember? Missed this one (argh) from back in March, but better late than never, no? Youtube mosaic video here , but the whole 'interactive' element is pretty annoying. Just fyi.
