It's hard to imagine that just a few short months ago we were enjoying sunny summer days. 2011 was my best year yet, having achieved a few milestones: four and a half years running FensePost, riding my bike from Seattle to Portland and logging over 1,000 total on those two wheels between January and December, enjoying life with the love of my life (Andi), and a few defining mindset changes that put the two of us on a path to minimalism and frugality. All of this has led to happiness. That the [...]

Friday evening was a mad house. Getting into the station wasn't the issue, as I expect it will be in the coming weeks now that winter is upon us; it was the transition. Transitioning from one on-air personality to another is a bit nerve-wracking. The quarters are cramped, the mic is hot, and you have to do your best not to step on their toes as they wrap their show and you begin yours. And when it's time to fly, you have to remember which buttons should be lit and which ones shouldn't. After the [...]

Tonight I hit the kitchen to compile the second FensePost podcast, or FenseCast, while cooking up one of my signature dishes: spicy steak enchiladas with homemade sauce. For desert, a delicious slice of gluten free cake courtesy Andi (the girlfriend), whose photo you can see above. Unlike the first podcast, this one had a range of bands that stemmed into several genres rather than focusing on garage rock and pop. Within I reminisce on one of my favorite bands of all time, occasionally hover around bedroom pop, and pass along one imperative ingredient in my homemade enchilada [...]

While listening to San Juan, P.R. raised/NYC based band Suturee , I realized that I might have found my theme music for the post-nuclear winter. With nods to Nico and the Velvet Underground , Suturee is vintage dream-pop and a brilliantly executed soundtrack to a foggy afternoon. Their debut album sticks close to a kind of retro balladry and instrumental density that sneak into your consciousness before you even realize it. There is something to Suturee's music that defies time and makes you sit up and listen. These are the future [...]

NYC duo, The Vanish draw influence from 70s punk bands and the likes of The Clash for their brand of nu wave/electro pop. Hold On by The Vanish Heartbeat by The Vanish Originally from Puerto Rico now based in NYC is Suturee . This indie pop band formed in 2007, released their first album in May 2008 and were featured on NPR this past January. Fail To Feel [...]

Suturee Album Cover Suturee is a very interesting band that's currently located in New York City. It currently consists of the founding members: Rebecca and Julian as the singers and composers, with Kristian on guitar, Fernando on bass, and Waldy on drums. Julian is an educated sound engineer who takes care of both the creative and the technical aspects of the album. Recently, they released a new album named Suturee. The cover is fairly simple – perhaps overly simple. The picture on the front is of the ocean with the shadow of what [...]

I hit a wall today. This happens when you've been working just a bit too hard, going too fast-paced, attempting to store too much information. Everything stops. Thought. Movement. You just go blank. There is music out there with the ability to draw one out of such a moment (or, rather, reactivate brainwaves and movement, etc.), and Suturee ( MySpace ) is a perfect example. Suturee's music is filled with subtle drones and quietly seductive dual male/female vocals. Moments of experimental pop drift in [...]

Welcome the slow portion of the day....funny guy, I know. Well regardless, its true, this is some great shoegaze/ambient-esque music to ease you into the rest of your day. Sometimes you need to take a breathe, and really breather - let Suturee's self titled album be your muse. Suturee [soo-cher-ee] = someone who has been sutured. I am not sure if there is a story behind the name, but I am sure there is. I not sure if they have had the time to experience a story worthy of the band name as the band's history seems short [...]
The Weight will be releasing Are Men, featuring a sound that is equal parts The Band, The Byrds, and early Tom Petty spiced with more modern contemporaries such as Drive By Truckers and The Jayhawks. It's country rock n' roll done proper and infused with elements of psych, folk and the blues. TeePee Records has more information on a band with an excellent southern sound to it. mp3: Had It Made [...]

It's the Friday before Thanksgiving, so let's feast on a little new music. I'm not exactly sure how I've come to receive these but sometimes you just have to accept things from the cosmos. Needless to say, they're funky and fun and I'm compelled to share them with you. Wall Street Riots -- "Dr. King (FrankMusik Remix)" mp3 ( buy ) The Hours -- "See the [...]
Another weekend comes to a close as we find ourselves sorting through various emails and sounds while having an extended glance at occasional snowflakes now dancing around the window view from our office space. Today's featured music is a perfect audio example of what seems to be pulsing through the senses while making a gentle path to our collective brain at this very moment... and the listen
