Tomorrow evening Dirty Bingo/Not Even bring to you a great lineup to celebrate the launch of Eagulls first single Council Flat Blues. They'll be playing live, and will be joined by New Years Evil and Swanton Bombs. Doors are at 8pm and its comletely free! In between bands you will be able to listen to [...]
Our friends over at Be Bop Kids are putting on a great night at Dalston's The Victory, which used to be called the Hobby Horse, and I believe, I've been there before and, of course, knowing me, made a complete FOOL out of myself there so it's a pretty cool place, obviously. If I even [...]

I discovered Swanton Bombs a few months ago via a french garage/punk/blues blog I subscribe to. I've been digging them more and more with each listen. Just good raw & fuzzy pop-infused hard stomping wig outs. The dudes at Fat Possum Records dig 'em too and are releasing a 7". Dig: [...]
Happy Easter! I first heard of Swanton Bombs late last year when I got my hands on the Mammoth Skull EP —I really enjoyed the Beatles/Blur sounding track "Moth And Moon Song"... and I guess the EP was decent enough for me check out the duo's new full-length, Mumbo Jumbo And Murder . While Mammoth Skull had that very distinct British indie-pop sound, Mumbo Jumbo And Murder is a more raw and noisy garage rock album. Although I do love the cheeky indie Brit-pop sound, I [...]
![[Review] Swanton Bombs – 'Mumbo Jumbo and Murder'](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2290077_lg.jpg)
Drummers are often the butt of many a joke referencing talent and creativity, they're often overlooked but more often than not are actually the heart, the beat and the soul of any great band. It's therefore no surprise that even though Swanton Bombs are only two men they manage to produce quite a sound, mostly thanks to drummer Brendan Heaney's immense presence. 'Mumbo Jumbo and Murder' is the debut album from the London based duo who's motto must surely be 'Less is more!'. Less instruments = more emphasis on the raw talent [...]

Photo by waxorian Swanton Bombs may have had an incredibly productive 2009 – touring with the likes of Girls & Jay Reatard, releasing their acclaimed debut EP Mammoth Skull & album Smoke Over Swanton & playing highly charged slots at festivals like Latitude & Green Man being but a few of the highlights – but it's nothing compared to what they have planned for 2010. First off, to usher in the new year, they are heading out with similarly hotly tipped Sunderland rock icons in [...]

So why not send our former intern, Jenny Booth, to a festival in the UK, right? Heck, if it helps her with a press pass, we feel pretty damn good about it. -Ed. Having studied my degree in Cardiff—and always longed for a music festival on my doorstep—it was downright mean of Swn Fest's organizers to start it up the year I left school. Three years on, though, and I'm finally in the right place at the right time—if a little apprehensive as to how one of the world's smallest capital cities will rival last months [...]

It's a rather varied week of gigging this week, with Richard Hawley at the Queen's Hall at one end of the spectrum and the Japanese War Effort at the Traverse Bar tonight at the other. There are a few side-notes worth mentioning as well - like the vanishing Whispertown 2000 gig at Sneaky's on Saturday which I would have liked to go to, but which I assume was cancelled and the appearance, for free, of 4AD's Big Pink at Sick Note , late at Cabaret Voltaire on Thursday. I think I can manage maybe a couple of [...]

Cover by Walzac Well, it's Saturday... but just because it's the weekend, doesn't mean we can get our groove on, eh? Real quick, before we get started, wanted to announce we've got another photo contest started, this time over at Tsuru & The Bride !!! Pretty self-explanatory, in my opinion, but just in case... A photo contest where they theme is "Twos". Anything & everything, with some pretty awesome prizes for the winner!!! [...]

When I hear something for the first time and am not too sure about it, but then on more listens it becomes added to every playlist I have on the go it annoys me slightly that I am then a good bit late on the case. So is the case with the Swanton Bombs ( MySpace ) right here. The good folk at Young & Lost sent over their new single Doom (video below) I should have known better ( pre-order it on 73 from Y&L ). They are pretty much on the money normally and [...]
Swanton Bombs will be releasing "Doom" on a 73 via Young & Lost on October 26th. If you can't wait & want it now, the duo will be selling it exclusively at their... **Summary** Go to website for downloads, videos & more.

Swanton Bombs are a potent rock duo from London and are currently supporting Girls on their European Tour. I caught them a couple of weeks when they supported Let's Wrestle. The lads definately made an impression. Heavy drums and amazing guitar riffs. Not in a bad eighties way, but your man Dominic McGuinness is seriously good at hooking out some belters. They're releasing a new single on Young & Lost Club on 26th October entitled 'Doom'. It looks like they're doing a Strokes cover 'New York City Cops' on the b-side too. Dominic also moonlights in his brother's band Eugene [...]

Thanks to the guys and girls over at Young and Lost Club I'm able to share a great track from Swanton Bombs with you guys. Sounding like some of the earlier Kings Of Leon stuff, 'I Like It' treads a beaten path but does it with such style that it's forgiveable. In both 'I Like It' and the other track featured below, 'Who's Asking', Swanton Bombs manage to make themselves sound more like a five piece band rather than just two of them. An admirable feat, some bands can work for years on [...]
Swanton Bombs are a 2 piece rock outfit from the East London/Essex borderline. Brendan Heaney (drums) & Dominic McGuinness (guitar & vocals) have been playing together since meeting in... **Summary** Go to website for downloads, videos & more.

A few months ago I wrote about this do it yourself ethos that has begun to flourish in the indie underground over here in the US. Record Labels popping up like dandelions in the spring and bands jumping from label to label with a 7 inch here, an album there and a cassette on another one. Back in March when I wrote that post it didn't seem like there was a similar thing happening over in the UK. Fast forward to now and those dandelion seeds have blown across the Atlantic and are sprouting. Within the [...]

Sorry for our recent disappearing act and hope you haven't missed us too much. Normal service is resumed with a vengence as we pass the parcel from Turnstile to you. They've just been getting lots of pats on the back for putting out the Girls single this week and now we get a nice virtual Bento box with new tracks from the other artists on their roster. We don't like picking favourites but when Swanton Bombs popped up something came over us it ended with air drumming and some heavy nodding. [...]
