This blog has been up and running for just over 2 years now and i just realised that i've never actually done a proper Valentines Day post. So here is one in the form of a Monday List. Valentines Day divides a lot of people. Some love it and celebrate it to the full with presents, dinner dates, "quiet" nights at hotels, cards, flowers and the general showering of love on their partner. Then there are those who hate (lets be honest it's usually single people) Valentines Day [...]

This weeks post is a bit later than normal as I am currently nursing a post 'AvP' hangover, which mainly involves me lying on the couch feeling sorry for myself, whilst rocking Erin (Peenko Jnr) in her chair. It's actually quite therapeutic watching her looking so contented staring into space. Anyway enough of my self indulgence, onwards and upwards with this weeks cover version which comes courtesy of Swimmer One and their cover of Kate Bush's 'Cloudbusting', enjoy... Swimmer One - Cloudbusting (Kate Bush cover)
If you really want to become knowledgeable about music, the only way seems to be to read liner notes. I glanced at the ones which came with Swimmer One's latest album and who should I see but Pete Harvey. Who I've seen onstage with The Leg, Meursault, Animal Magic Tricks, Willard Grant Conspiracy and Christ [...]

If you really want to become knowledgeable about music, the only way seems to be to read liner notes. I glanced at the ones which came with Swimmer One's latest album and who should I see but Pete Harvey. Who I've seen onstage with The Leg, Meursault, Animal Magic Tricks, Willard Grant Conspiracy and Christ knows who else. In Edinburgh terms, he is the Bart Owl of the cello. The loss of liner notes is one of the most unlamented changes to music in the digital age, but I think it should be mentioned. Swimmer One remind me [...]

How would you describe Swimmer One's music? Andrew : We've been compared in print (in a nice way, on the whole) to Belle and Sebastian, Editors, David Bowie, the Pet Shop Boys, Pulp, Snow Patrol, Lloyd Cole, the KLF, the Blue Nile, and the Who. So I guess that means we sound like a rock opera by twee Glaswegians. Or rave music by situationist pranksters who also write guitar anthems for stadiums. Or kitchen sink [...]

Andrew Eaton (not the film producer), Hamish Brown (not the photographer) are Swimmer One . They are from Scotland, the country where they invented ""the hole in one". Their album The Regional Variations is a quirky collection of leftfield pop songs. They write about drowning, basements and gas stations. Imagine Belle and Sebastian , The Style Council and a wiff of Pulp and Radiohead and you get an idea (but not quite) about what they sound like. If those bands were into electronica, [...]
