West Coast shoegaze outfit Whirr have dropped a new track, which will be featured on the band's next EP on Graveface in September. The group released their second full-length early last year, which I missed, sadly. However, it's looking like this new EP, Around , is going to bring a slight change of pace. On this new cut, "Swoon," Whirr is still sounding pretty noisy and shoegaze-inspired, but their they are slowing tempos down for an effect that feels ambiguously blissful and depressing. Enjoy!

More brilliant new school "indie" from Surf Club and their new track "Swoon", refer back to a previous track from Ski Lodge to hear a rant about the state of old school "indie", and what the future holds for indie lovers who aren't in it for the leather jacket. continue reading >>

TIM MASON: The Interview. They call Tim Mason a "relative newcomer" on the EDM global scene, but the attention he has been receiving as a result of his massive progressive house originals and singles, live shows already at major festivals around the world, and explicit support of the big namers like David Guetta is all something of a major artist well established. Signed to Steve Angello's label Size Records , Tim released his first two major original singles in 2011 via Size, and after a hiatus touring, has most recently come [...]

Steve Angello's Size Records is dedicated to finding and nurturing the most exciting new electronic music artists, and one such artist that has risen through their ranks is Brighton, UK based DJ & producer Tim Mason . Having broken through with the huge The Moment and its equally impressive follow up Anima on Size in 2011, fans have been eagerly waiting for news on his next solo release. Following months of anticipation, Tim Mason is making his return to the label for the first time in over a year with new single Swoon. Having had a busy 2012 touring [...]

So it seems that " Hit It " won't be the next release from Size Records. Instead, Tim Mason has a glorious reunion with his respective imprint, returning from hiatus that had progressive house world building with anticipation Following in the footsteps of earlier anthems such as " Anima " and " The Moment ," Mason reverts to his melodic synth layers, deep bass kicks, and escalating chords. With "Swoon," he has completed his trifecta of big room, festival-dominating records in the vein of Steve Angello. Purchase: Beatport You [...]
It's been a while since we've heard a production bit from the studio of Tim Mason, but the Brighton-born DJ/producer has (with help from Pete Tong) finally broken his silence. After making way for younger talent such as Qulinez, Mason returns to his respective Size Records for his next release, "Swoon." Featuring catchy melody, kick drum flare, and a big room aura, his latest offering is due to match the caliber of his timeless hits " Anima " and " The Moment ." The wait will soon be over and "Swoon" will hit the release circuit on February 11th. [...]
Now, personally I've moved on from the whole 'big room house' scene, but I'll be damned if I let my pretentious nature deprive my readers of hearing this fat tune. Out of Brighton, UK, the Size Records signee aka Tim Mason , has returned with a massive hit 'Swoon', that follows right in line with his past huge releases such as 'The Moment' and 'Anima' . With such uplifting chords, and ambient synths, maybe Tim Mason can add a new dynamic and simultaneously breathe life into [...]

Rihanna -covering, Taylor Swift - loving , genre-blending duo Timeflies have premiered their video for "Swoon," a glossy club-pop cut from their One Night EP. Like Taylor's "I Knew You Were Trouble" or Swizz Beatz ' "Everyday Birthday," this video starts at the end, after a raucous party. It may be a concept we've seen before, but unlike most of those videos, much of this clip actually plays out in reverse. Watch it up top. [...]

Today the Tufts-bred prog-electro duo Timeflies release the official video for their latest and catchy-as-f*ck single "Swoon". It's amazing to see how far Cal & Res have come since we hosted their first official live performance together almost two years back - just shows what a good team (still the same dudes), good plan, hard work, and true talent can do for ya. Pick up the fellas' recent EP One Night here .

CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIST. If this isn't a gem I don't know what is. Tim Mason is getting absolutely stupid and nobody is stopping him. I will be seeing him, Steve Angello, and Third Party in DC on December 28th. That's gonna be a really bad concert....................... .............................. ...... and Tim Tebow can throw a spiral. A few months after first catching our attention with the fascinatingly odd constructions "Land of The Lost" and "Black and Blue", buzzworthy Manhattan electro-soul-pop minimalists s w o o n (brothers Noah and Cody Davis) have recently re-emerged with two new cuts to chew over. Of the two, "Keep Faith" is the one that sounds like it'll make the most blog noise for the newbie act, its barely there atmospherics casting a strangely enticing late-night gloom-R&B brew for broody singer Noah's fragile account of a romance on its last legs. Hear the [...]

James Frost is a master light manipulator. Silversun Pickups are master mood creators. Together they make "Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)" a satisfying experience.

Daedelus flips Open Mike Eagle's swooning number, 'Nightmares', into what he calls Pacific style. He pacifically turned this phenomenal original composition around and inserted his stuttering footwork basslines and juke-infused rhythms. Daedelus' sporadic and Victorian compositions will forever keep me fantasized, his capability to fill every space and blank air with sound is impeccable.
