Silversun Pickups' follow-up to their first full length record, 2006's Carnavas, picks up where the band left off. The same silvery, fuzzy distortion is used throughout but with reverb and echo here and there that helps accent the record's mostly dry sound, as does the fantastic use of orchestration. The snare-heavy drumming, varying guitar tones, [...]

Silversun Pickups - There's No Secrets This Year Photo by Timothy Norris Swoon is coming soon! My buddy got me into these guys like a year ago and I pretty much wore out Pikul and Carnavas over the period of several months. I recall blasting "All the Go Inbetweens" at some point during an epic cross country road trip last summer. Probably shredding asphalt through the badlands! This album opening track off Swoon will surely pump you up for the April 14th release [...]
We cannot tell you simply enough how excited and goosebumpy we are even talking about the sophomore record from LA's Silversun Pickups , Swoon, which is set to hit stores April 14. The band just put up a minute-long teaser today for the record, which features a clip from the title track as well as an animation that becomes the record's cover art. We've probably played their debut record Carnavas enough that the mp3 is worn out (is that even possible for digital files?) and we suspect that we'll do the same thing once Swoon [...]

Quick lunchtime post for everyone today because I am too pumped to wait until I get off work. From Silversun Pickups ' HIGHLY anticipated forthcoming sophomore release Swoon , comes the first single Panic Switch . Available on iTunes as of yesterday, this track gives us a torturing taste of what to expect from the indie-rock band's follow up to their blowout debut release Carnavas . Swoon is scheduled to be released on April 14, 2009 and will be on my iPod shortly thereafter. Unless a copy is sent to me ahead of time of course.....hint hint. [...]

It's already getting a lot of love for the debut single "Panic Switch", which is currently the number one most added single at modern rock radio this week (note: not college). But why are they overlooking their real first show of 2009? We're not serious about this in case you were wondering, we're just [...]

HERE"S SOME MUSIC PEOPLE! Panic Switch - Silversun Pickups I am diggin' the hell out of this new Silversun Pickups song from their upcoming album "Swoon" out April 14th. "Panic Switch" expands on their fuzzy, jolt-bass sound that made "Carvanas" huge. It's catchy, and the bass breakdown into the ending is something special...lookin' forward to the rest of the album. > Vanaprasta [...]

Music news for your day party/night show schedules at this year's SXSW Music . No idea on specifics like place or time yet but will post as soon as I hear more... -- Rhett Miller playing an acoustic set...of covers? I spoke to hip-swinger extraordinaire Rhett Miller after his recent show here in DC (photos forthcoming, honest!), and given the New West day party last year completely changed my SXSW outlook , I had to ask if Miller and the [...]

Late-ish post tonight coming from the LA indie-rock band Silversun Pickups . Common Reactor comes from the band's first full-length album Carnavas , which hit #1 on Billboard 's Top Heatseekers album chart. Carnavas was released in July of 2006 and follows up the bands 2005 EP Pikul . The band has announced, via the Alternative Press magazine, that work has begun on their second full-length album that will be entitled Swoon. [...]
As the Silversun Pickups last release, Carnavas , has not stopped playing on my Ipod since picking it up after seeing their show at the Monolith Festival a few weeks back, I'm thrilled to read that the Pickups have announced that their follow up will be titled "Swoon" and out in early 2009. Silversun Pickups is currently tucked away in a Los Angeles studio working hard on the follow up to Carnavas, titled Swoon and scheduled for release in early 2009. Dave Cooley, the man behind the soundboard for Carnavas, was once [...]
by phil miller Silversun Pickups have released some details on the follow-up to their debut album, Carnavas (one of the better albums the last five years, in my opinion). Titled Swoon , the album is due out early next year on Dangerbird with Carnavas producer Dave Cooley again, turning the knobs. Frontman Brian Aubert hinted at an eclectic mix of mellow/heavy of sounds on the record. "It doesn't need to [...]
