In Greek mythology, sirens were femme fatales whose beautiful songs would lure sailors to their deaths. Sydney Wayser (@sydneywayser) just might be the modern-day version. Though her enchanting songs are rife with subtle complexities and rich textures, her melodies sparkle like rays of sunshine through treetops. Listening to her music inevitably yields delight. Her new album, Bell Choir Coast , released at the end of March, is bouncier than her previous efforts, yet maintains the same roots in lazy blues and sultry jazz. Having been cooked in the studio a bit [...]

by teepoo Sydney Wayser from New York also performed at the Audioblood party. Her sound is a soulful folk. It wasn't necessarily the most original thing out there as she kinda reminds me of Feist with some synths. However, it sounded great in such a confined space. Her lyrics were both playful and engaging to the audience. The Colorful by Sydney Wayser Gallery

Audio Blood Media definitely holds really great day parties. For CMW, they held their own party called "Thirtsy Thursday". It wasn't at the same place as they do at NXNE but it was just across from it. This one was alot of fun. Free beer from Beau's Beer and of course nachos! People hanging outside on the roof. There were performances by (Who I saw): • The Balconies • Sandman Viper Command [...]
![SYDNEY WAYSER AND CO LEAF US SPEECHLESS IN THE WOODS [BUZZSESSION]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3948059_lg.jpg)
In the thick of a shortened New York autumn, I took the hour long trip north from Brooklyn to Westchester with Sydney Wayser and friends Zach Mangan (drums) and Gabriel Duncan (guitar). It was in Bedford, a small town in northern Westchester, that Sydney, Zach, and Gabe set up shop for our "Buzzsession" . After a brief canoe ride with Sydney, I hit record on my camera and allowed Sydney's voice and the backdrop of golden leaves and sun-soaked lake do the rest. Her songs, "Call Me Up" and "Dream It Up", will be [...]

Whimsical and playful, with a touch of angst and a heavy dose of emotion, Sydney Wayser 's music sings like lullabies throughout the contemporary folk scene of New York City. The young singer-songwriter's sweet, engaging voice can be likened to Feist or Regina Spektor's, filling up songs that seem reminiscent of a sunny day in Paris. Her second full-length album, The Colorful, is a lush mix of melodies and chords that intricately tell stories of her youth and experience. Sydney is about to release a new album, we heard the songs live when she played our [...]

Photo taken by the amazing Anne Kieblesz - Flickr It's been a good three months since I've intentionally spent more than a few days obsessing over my music folder, reliving every memory for a better sense of direction... but Summer has finally come to an end and a call for change is the only real reason one can find to get through it. I was originally going to present this as some sort of "b-side" to my Summer Mix , but I wanted nothing to do with a format that'd have me [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours Sydney Wayser , 23, grew up in Los Angeles and spent her summers in Paris. This bilingual, bicoastal, bilateral upbringing has given her music a very distinct feel. Wayser is a multi-instrumentalist and while recording her sophomore album, she utilized toy instruments to add even more dimensions to her music. She plays three shows at SXSW before jetting off to France for more performances. Describe your sound in your own words. [...]
Monday: Knight School, Diehard, Family Portrait, + Golden City @ The Studio at Webster Hall 8pm FREE [ info ] After a pretty wild weekend that included the Super Bowl, birthday parties, and some fantastic music, we're probably going to take Monday night off to catch out breath before the rest of this week kicks our ass! If you were one of the people that panicked about the blizzard that never happened and spent most of the weekend indoors it is time to for you to venture out and what better way to do [...]

singer-songwriter // folk pop Sydney Wayser possesses an ear for melody and talent for songwriting that results in a collection of intimate and playful tunes. The half-French, half-American songwriter grew up in Los Angeles with frequent trips to Paris (and is now based in New York). This worldly charm is heard throughout her music, whether it's the Southern-inspired "Banjo Bayou" or the dreamy allure of "Bells". Though the majority of her sophomore album, The Colorful , was recorded on children's toys and piano, there is nothing childish about it. Wayser's alluring vocals [...]

En attendant Les Femmes S'en Mêlent... La gente féminine se fait attendre à La Maroquinerie, le vendredi 29 janvier . Thao with the get down stay down , Basia Bulat et Sydney Wayser partagent l'affiche de cette soirée pop folk. Après le succès tant critique que public de son premier album, l'americano-vietnamienne Thao revient avec ses 2 acolytes de The Get Down Stay Down . Un songwriting riche qui juxtapose avec aisance des mélodies fraîches et joyeuses à des textes souvent mélancoliques. Encore une belle [...]
I'd managed to avoid Crash Mansion completely in my years of NYC showgoing, but Tuesday night ended my streak as I headed over to its hallowed halls in search of the Whitesmith Entertainment / CASH Music CMJ Party , happily stuffed with pumpkin schnapps, steak and potatoes. No kidding. I <3 U, Limewire. Let me tell you, it sure dulled the pain of $8 Brooklyn Lagers. Eff you, Crash Mansion. ANYWAY, I arrived to find a lone Demander , guitarist Dave Kurutz, when his bandmates suddenly appeared and [...]

It's that time of year again...report writing. It's like there's this big wall in between what I should be doing, and what I'm actually doing. While I have started them, it seems only natural that I wind up here, writing posts instead and uploading photos off my camera and listening to wonderful music. To make sure that this is not a completely wasted effort, let me share some of the tunes that have been flooding my head this fine and rainy evening - the second bout of rain we've had in a week. Almost unheard of in these parts. [...]

there are a handful of playful and rather appealing songs from the debut album, silent parade , of twenty-one year old franco-american sydney wayser , a precocious singer & piano player, available for download on her myspace page . two of our favorites are below - love the juxtaposition of a wistful harmonica against a child's bravado reassurance in "papa don't worry" - but you all should, if you like these, listen to the others, as well. sydney wayser - carousel [...]

Sydney Wayser is a 23 year-old from New York. She has a Cat Power- like vibe to her. There is also a touch of Damien Rice's melancholy. I think if she had one of her songs featured in a TV show (like Grey's) or commercial (like a Diamond Is Forever ad), she would become a well-known artist. Listen: Sydney Wayser ~ Papa Don't Worry Sydney Wayser ~ Crumbled Paper Sydney Wayser ~ Greylights [...]
Sydney Wayser's debut album Silent Parade slides a melancholy indie-pop sound accented with beautiful piano, string, and woodwind instrumentation beneath Sydney's languid lilt. The sound is somewhat... **Click on the link to read the full post, download mp3s, and comment.**
