As alwas, included below is a mix of new singles, fun remixes, and some tunes from up-and-comers you just might want to check out... NEW Singles: "Already Down" by Awesome Color [...]

We get a ton of e-mails every week from people wanting us to check out their music. Naturally we can't get to them all, but that doesn't stop us from feeling bad about it. So we've decided to try and bring as many of these potentially wonderful songs to you as we can. Every week (as lazy as we are it will probably be every couple of weeks )we are going to clean out our inbox and provide all the mp3's that were made available to us, to you. If you hear something from a band you absolutely [...]
SYSTEM AND STATION A Nation of Actors (Latest Flame) "Part prog, part pop, part punk, part jazz-rock fusion, System and Station seems to have hit on the perfect mixture of instrumental prowess and accessibility that made the early 70's so much fun (and diverse)." – Amplifier "...System and Station make fun-damentally strong music. The smart, sharp song writing is supported by

A couple more tracks from the excellent recent release from System and Station, A Nation of Actors. The album was engineered and Recorded by Larry Crane at Portland, Oregon's Jackpot! Studios , which has an impressive list of clients. From the ambient lament and washed out cymbal swells of "The World Is Run By Wires," to the deep space crush of "Dumb Luck" and "Pictures Found In Paragraphs," their jagged guitars, soaring vocals, and massive drums sparkle from beginning to end. mp3: A Light To [...]

A lighter release week, but still a few goodies. The new Dragonforce record with the awesome cover is out. B.B. King proves he's still got it with some new material at the young age of 82. Delta Spirit , a personal California favorite of mine, is what I'm looking forward to. And if you're a Johnny Cash collector, the new 2-disc collection of material he did with George Jones should do you good. :: Alias , Resurgam (Anticon) :: [...]

I often get questions from our fabulous correspondents in RockSellout Reader Land with questions such as "Keath - why don't you do a Smash or Trash?" or "Keath - do you have something against Smash or Trash?" or "Keath - just do a damn Smash or Trash already!" Strangely all these email addresses are some anagram of "Kip." No, I kid - but it is time for me to contribute to the Smash or Trash category with a couple tracks which I'm on the fence about - time to turn it over to you for further analysis. [...]

System and Station returns with its fourth full-length album, A Nation of Actors, to deliver its most solid work to date. Principle songwriter and anchor of the band, RFK Heise, introduces elements of the gentle ambiance formerly reserved for his side project Protest Hill. A Nation of Actors rides through poppier terrain that its predecessor Here Is Now, without sacrificing the angular guitar work or the two ton rhythm section. System and Station formed as a three piece in Boise, Idaho in '98. Despite frequent moves to and from the West coast (though now based in Portland, OR), [...]
I've been racking up a lot of new music and I've been doing an otherwise terrible job at sharing it with you all. So here's some great tunes to kick start your Wednesday morning. I checked out The Republic Tigers last night at the Towne Lounge . You never know how you feel once you get out of work and if staying up late is worth it. I didn't stay for the whole set, but what I did see I was impressed with. I do sorta dig The Republic Tigers breed of [...]

System and Station formed as a three piece in Boise, Idaho in '98. Despite frequent moves to and from the West coast (though now based in Portland, OR), mainstay Heise has guided the band through three full length records, three EPs, 18 national tours and 12 breakdowns (some in -20 degree weather, some strictly mental.) Yay I love bands from the Northwest and I'm surprised we never heard of these guys, what with their 4th album, A Nation of Actors , rolling out in August. They've got a handful of venues on their map for their tour, good amount in the Northwest alone. If you're into pop, indie pop is what they got and they've been doing it for a good long time. The catchy melodies of System and Station started in Boise, Idaho my city of origin! Anyways we got a new single [...]

Formerly, they were known as The Night Time. But what to call them now? Is it New York Times or N** Y*** T***** ? Well, I'll go by the spelling on their myspace page... N** Y*** T***** it is. Besides their trademark infringement-y name, they have a whole 90's indie pop girl vocals thing happening. They have been compared to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs , Sleater-Kinney , Autolux , VU , and Pavement . So, if you want me to thrown in another band to compare N** Y*** T***** to, I will. [...]

Portland's System and Station deliver a fresh pop sound on upcoming fourth full-length, A Nation of Actors, plots upcoming tour. Fans of Built to Spill, Sunny Day Real Estate listen up. "Portland's S&S are a pretty rockin' band whose angular axwork gets puffed up into lofty billows-kinda like Sunny Day Real Estate, Built To Spill's arena-sized moments, or The Sea and Cake on high spin." – Village Voice "Like 90's underground cult heroes Shiner and Unwound, System and Station delivers a precise, visceral version of noisy pop, full of angular guitars, rhythmic, slightly hypnotic melodies [...]
