Relentless touring and a show that can't help but make you move your body has amassed a growing following all across the states, which is why we are very happy to debut the brand new EP from the band [...]

Summertime- especially in the heat of Austin, TX- seems to inspire an almost unquenchable desire for good tunes and good times. Reminiscent of those eras that produced mastered pieces of working man art and music, chalk-full of sex appeal and urban style and slang, this band's music keeps it classy and cool. Combine creative musicians- who have an obvious and admirable knowledge of soul and funk music from the greats- with irresistible move-your-body music and invade-your-brain catchy lyrics, and you have T-Bird and The Breaks ' new album Never Get Out of This Funk [...]

Every city deserves a locals only website that serves the music community with such breadth and depth as AustinSound does. For the past three years right around SXSW AustinSound has released a free compilation of the best of Austin's Independent bands. This year they've upped the ante with a 2 stage free day party. AustinSound's compilations are usually pretty inclusive, so while they may focus on "indie rock" they also include all the music that is fermenting around the edges of that term. On Sound Advice Vol III: Starry Eyes [...]

I kind of forgot to mention that the last week or so have been SXSW preview posts. It's not the hippest stuff playing at South-By but it's the stuff I'll go out of the way to see. So here's the sixth post in the series ( 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , and 5 ). This'll be fun. Texas' finest soul review playing SXSW. There'll be no deep thoughts, indie alt-bro angst, or furrowed brows. I expect it to be the party [...]

Got this LP by T-Bird and the Breaks , entitled Learn About It from a friend of mine, and I thought I would throw some of their music up here so all of our good looking and charming readers can check them out. They're called T-Bird and the Breaks, and they're out of Austin, Texas. Think Black Joe Lewis meets The Scabs (two other Austin bands). T Bird and the Breaks - All the Blame - Learn About It [...]

Voodoo Fest 2008 was such a delight this year with killer headliners, great weather, easy access to stages and fantastic local music. The White Bitch set up shop on The NooMoon Stage right next to some glass blowers to provide early attendees some magic even though some technical difficulties were making things a little less enjoyable for the musicians basking onstage in the NOLA sun. They were pretty rockin' live. The White Bitch is Michael Patrick Welch's 7-year dream coming to fruition with collaborator Ray Bong of The Bongoloids. On the disc, rocking [...]
