It's been a couple minutes since we last checked in on Tahiti Boy and the Palmtree family . The Family returns with "Brooklyn", a new EP which paves the way for a full length release set for 2010. The four tracks continue the 60's pop sound that the band has kinda become known for. "Andy's Suite" is a melancholy tale that all us music lovers can probably relate to on some level. Love how the music towards the end breaks down into that fuzzy feeling you get when someone tells you something you don't want to [...]

According to their MySpace page, Tahiti Boy & The Palm Tree Family sound like "Vampire Weekend sleeping with Michel Legrand". We have no idea who Michel Legrand is because we are uneducated oafs (just kidding Armenian classical music fans!) but we really do fancy Vampire Weekend quite a bit. Is this enough to make us want to give you free music from a band we know precious little about? Totally. We're a) fools for anything that even has whiff of VW's loafers about it and b) they gave us an mp3 to give you so it would be [...]

Here we two new tracks produced by Para One of the Institubes label out of electro Mecca, France. First up is a Para One remix of " 1973 " by the eight piece ensemble, Tahiti Boy & The Palmtree Family . This is the perfect track for walking aimlessly around the city during this nice weather we are having. Very unique and uplifting. If you're a big fan of documentries like myself, you'll be happy to [...]

That's one long title. Tahiti Boy & The Palmtree Family are a Parisian indie pop group possessing 60's and 70's folk-pop-rock charm. They have many cool friends, one being Xavier De Rosnay ( Justice ) that happily decided to work with Tahiti Boy & The Palmtree Family by reworking one of their tunes. The 70's rock influence is present in Brooklyn from Xavier and showcases his interests outside of the world of electro . Tahiti Boy & The Palmtree Family offer even more musical goodness - check out their [...]

Tahiti Boy & The Palmtree Family "1973 (Para One Remix)" # Alt. Koko Von Napoo "Polly (Chateau Marmont Remix)" # Alt. [...]
Monday: Casiokids + Kitten Ablaze @ The Bell House 7:30pm $8 This week is one of the worst weeks of the year for live music in New York. With all the bands, bloggers, and die hard music fans heading south for SXSW there isn't much left over for the natives to see and listen to. Tonight Oh My Rockness kicks off the SXSW festivities with a pre-show for all the people leaving tomorrow for Texas. Should be awesome! Casiokids - "Togens Hule" Kittens Ablaze - "Gloom Doom Buttercups" [...]

you may or may not spot celebrities in this image. (hint: one's a millionaire and one's an art curator/marketing/moog wizard) Wait, hold on. Let me finish freaking my shit over the new Phoenix album: Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (WAP WAP WAP WAP). Alright. I won't be putting any leaks up on this site because unlike certain other french acts that had a huge and ongoing 'debut leak' (which didn't affect their status of short-lived blog-hip icons), Phoenix is actually a credible and established fixture that you will [...]

Οι Παριζιάνοι Tahiti Boy and the Palmtree Family αποτελούνται από τον Tahiti Boy και..

This post is filled with random. I mean seriously, but hey...that's what I like best. I started off with this 92 dance classic and worked my way a little further east to Paris which feels more like an ocean jam mixed with a cut from Willy Wonka. And a little Royksopp and Lykke Li, these two are unstoppable...the song reminds me of riding a bicycle on the moon for some reason, is that possible? It's just too damn angelic but I still like (not Love) it. I threw in a couple tracks as a little extra bonus for [...]

Tiens, [...]
Do you like things that are supposed to be scary but are actually cute? Do you like hallucinogenic drug trips (the good kind)? Do you like lo-fi psych folk pop? Then by all means watch the video for "1973" by Tahiti Boy & The Palmtree Family . It looks like a modern day Sid & Marty Krofft directed it.
Tuesday, February 17, 2009 Today's Quick Mention: Yes. Instead of sharing some new tunes I decided to spend my President's Day making sure that my couch was still comfortable. It is. Thank whoever. On a related note, my Xbox 360 is as fun as I remembered. Time for another EP! Enjoy. : Tahiti Boy And The Palmtree Family - That Song : Going hand-in-hand with my lazy afternoon yesterday was this relaxing number from Tahiti Boy and the Palmtree [...]

Black Lips are savvy motherfuckers, ostensibly building a successful career by playing '60s and punk-inspired, lo-fi garage rock (or, what they call "flower punk") that isn't better or worse than the inoffensive garage rock (not called "flower punk") made by a zillion other bands. They mix in some lite elements of Southern soul and rap (take a listen to "The Drop I Hold") here/there, but you can dig into Estrus, Crypt, In the Red (Black Lips old label home), Get Hip!, Bomp (BL's other past label), etc., and find plenty of analogous acts. (To look backwards, their sound hits on [...]

Tahiti Boy & the Palmtree Family are a Parisian indie-pop octet with a boatload of regularly contributing friends. Among them is Justice's Xaviar De Rosnay and the star of Rachel Getting Married Tunde Adebimpe. Both feature on the Palmtree Family's forthcoming EP, with Adebimpe slated to sing with the band at the Pianos-stop of their upcoming US mini-tour. This song, "That Song," has Tunde and Tahiti Boy trade vocals over a minimal, moody track built of organs, flutes and brushsticks, recalling strains of Talk Talk and the more hushed and fragile side of Phoenix. It's a pretty one. [...]
If I judged bands by the company they kept (as I often do), I'd already be way into Tahiti Boy and the Palmtree Family . Fellow Parisians Justice are fans (Xavier de Rosnay contributes a remix to the band's self-titled U.S. debut EP ), and TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe is listed as a contributor and Palmtree Family member as well. If you're already familiar with the band's "Yellow Submarine"-cribbing " 1973 " (a song so overloaded with sunshine it would make Tim DeLaughter blush), you'll be surprised [...]
