Ok this is insane. Ackryte hit me up yesterday to show me this, and it's seriously jaw dropping. He and KVZE sent forward Supreme Sol a selection of dope, fire beats, who recorded over them for 23 minutes, non-stop, one take, one continuous flow. I didn't believe it at first so I had to double check with Ackryte. Some mad mad skill. Costs a dollar (or more, if you think it's worth it), so not exactly a freeness; but what's a dollar when you can have 23 minutes of this? This project contains some of the [...]

Also if you're wondering that you're probably wondering what this is; a Detroit funk/soul/jazz band covers a load of their fave songs, including some pretty well known beats. They're dope. MP3: Locked Groove - Steriel (320) 1. Locked Groove - Steriel 2. Oblique - [...]

CLICK IMAGE TO VIEW VIDEO Ahhh I love it when live musicians flip beats in the same way beats flip live musicians. The DJ Cam Quartet are one of the best, and I posted about BADBADNOTGOOD a bit ago . Here's a lil something from Will Sessions: Will Sessions impressed many with the meticulous craftsmanship of their studio re-workings of the classic tracks for "The Elmatic Instrumentals." With their new two-part video "Mix Takes," the five-piece band is taking a similar approach in recreating some of their [...]
This is a 15-minute documentary of Amy Winehouse's posthumous album Lioness: Hidden Treasures . We are not too happy about the album, because there are versions of older tracks and some songs that we consider rarities. It's not really a full-length album, more of a collection of many different bits a pieces that have been reworked or revisited. We know there are more tracks hidden that they are not releasing until the future. Filed under: Beats , Brit Brit Brit , Clip Tagged: amy winehouse , Back to Black , [...]

Admittedly, it's only been out for only two weeks, but the A$AP Rocky tape has had surprising staying power. It's doesn't need to be rocket science - some things just make for fun blunt cruise soundtracks. Jonah Bromwich's points stay salient and I've chimed in my own praise . There is no need to hype him up any further. That's what Hypebeast is for. One of the more telling signs of imminent rap success is how much headway you can make into other worlds. If your music can transcend genre, you're either on your way [...]

On the heels of ASAP Rocky's widely praised LIVELOVEASAP mixtape comes this new remix of "Been Around The World" from LA based producer Sweatson Klank, formerly known as Take. When I interviewed him last year for Passion of the Weiss, he mentioned gaining inspiration from touring and explained how he integrated it in to his own music during the recording process. That being the case, it's clear to see some of Sweatson Klank's recent European influences on this new remix and recent DJ set in Vancouver posted to his Soundcloud page. While his last album [...]

Drake - Make Me Proud It's a great night. Drake has recently dropped his latest track off of Take Care tonight during his interview with Funkmaster Flex on Hot97. The track features some of the fastest rapping we've ever heard from Drake. Nicki Minaj kills it as always. Her flow and lines are incredibly reminiscent to the hard-hitting addition of Kanye's "Monster". Photography by Lukasz Wierzbowski

Last year I was lucky enough to interview the internationally known, veteran producer Sweatson Klank aka Take at his home here in Los Angeles, and aside from being one of the most pleasant and informative interviews I've ever conducted, I was also allowed some insight in to the future of LA's electronic music scene. After breaking down the detailed history of the scene, Sweatson Klank (real name Tom Wilson) elaborated a little more on what he would like to see the crop of new producers contributing to the LA scene, but also on what he would be doing to further [...]
A maximum part of our lives is spend working and it would be really great if we could love what we do. Individuals and professionals who love their work are more productive in their professional lives than the ones who have to make compromises in the working front – day in and day out. To be able to achieve this objective of staying happy at work, a person would need to make a right career choice. Individuals who are more technically inclined can opt for technical jobs that require them to think logically. One can know whether one is apt [...]
If the name SWEATSON KLANK doesn't ring any bells, chances are you might remember the producer's previous alias of Take. Last year, he released the pretty damn good Only Mountain , an experimental journey through beats that I felt was slept on by too many heads. But hey, maybe this new all-caps moniker will keep his name bouncing around in your skull. If it doesn't, you can be damn sure the beat on "Morning After Pills" will be lodged in your cranium. This is apparently the instrumental version of the track and we [...]
My review of the Taking Back Sunday and Thursday show at Best Buy Theater, July 17th 2011.
June 28th, 2011 saw the release of Taking Back Sunday's eponymous, 5 th Studio album as well as the band's return to it's (for all intents and purposes) original lineup. Historically, TBS has been a group not afraid to alter their lineup for the benefit of the band but as of late 2010 and the initiation of work on this record, they have returned to something familiar. In addition to the re-joining of original guitarist/vocalist John Nolan and bassist Shaun Cooper, the band has teamed up with Louder Now producer, Eric Valentine. And though the personnel on [...]
