Last weekend Liverpool Sound City saw most of the worthwhile bits of the music industry ascend to the city of Pope Steven Gerrard in pursuit of free alcohol, 'networking opportunities' and music. Watching jealously from my self-imposed exile, throughout the very extensive coverage came a common theme ; Ninetails are almost everybody's favourite new band, thanks to a mixture of taut, Tall-Ships-ian melodies and elastic facial impressions. Excessively generous as they are, Ninetails subsequently released new single "Blue Bottle Flu" on Monday, and you can even pay what you like for [...]
There's something unnerving about turning up to day two of any festival showered, with clean pants on and without the obligatory dried coating of mud. It lacks a sense of escapism, but such is the nature of the modern urban festival scene. Camden Crawl 2012 has so far proved itself to be far removed from these trappings and with today's line up holding just as much promise as Saturday's, alongside the odd wild card, it's time to knock back the last of the Alka-seltzer and hop on the Northern Line for 13 more hours of sound, kicking off [...]
It's a much slower, hazier start in NW1 today – very much the morning after the night before. But as hard as the hangover may be, London gig-goers crawl on regardless. Sunday starts slightly later than the festivities taking place yesterday, but there's still a wealth of new acts to discover without letting the on/off showers dampen spirits. Yet again draught is being poured and shots slammed at the Wheelbarrow as the alternative rockers Tall Ships (pictured at top) take to the stage. There's a certain buzz in the air as the [...]

Throwing the migratory concept of the multi-venue multi-gig idea out of the window, due to a weird combination of the organisers timetable programming and our own summer festival schedule which gives opportunities to see certain artists at numerous events and therefore not necessarily this weekend in London, our whole second day of the Camden Crawl is spent in the bunting dressed Wheelbarrow pub. Camden Crawl ? More like Camden Stationary. As the music and alcohol flows a constant stream [...]

Various Artists - Sea Monsters 2 Compilation albums of various artists, particularly those that cross genres, are difficult albums to love. Usually the quality of the bands and artists vary from the downright b rilliant to the completely unlistenable with those that fall into these categories differing depending on the type of music you like. Compilation albums of various artists who all happen to plough their trade in a particular locale are even more difficult to love. That is unless they are a compilation of various artists from the thriving, [...]

65daysofstatic inject some M83-style grandiosity into Tall Ships latest single 'T=02 on this remix. I'd recommend the original song to fans of Richter Collective's roster of rock. Coincidentally, the 73 and download single is released on Big Scary Monsters who have done split releases with Richter on Adebisi Shank's albums and a couple of others. Tall Ships are on a UK tour with Los Campesinos in Europe at the moment and Maps & Atlases in the UK next month.

Tweet In SGTMT headquarters there is a tea & coffee rota. Tom makes the morning brew whilst we get out of our PJs; Tim does the mid-morning biscuit break (digestive for me); Luke makes the afternoon pit-stop (when he's here that is) and I tend to serve up the milk and cookies in the evening. We're a homely bunch. This morning, whilst sipping PG Tips and nibbling digestives & malted milk (we were out of bourbons), we stumbled across a new [...]

In my experience, Tall Ships are one of the few live bands in the country that are capable of making jaws drop at dislocating speed. Fortunately, they are not confined to being the Gogol Bordellos of taut math-punk, because they manage to transfer every sinew of their muscular groove to record. This, the first single from their forthcoming debut album, simultaneously dispels those worries that their genius is confined to the live set, and encompasses the intricacy and intimacy of Foals, the eccentricity of Battles, and the rawness of No Age. Absolutely immense. [...]
The VPME This is the first single from Tall Ship's début album, it's called " T=03 , a rather odd title, but still so much better than the faux-wacky wankery of say..."Mylo Xyloto." This brooding epic will be the opening track of their album (coming this summer). The fuse is lit in the form of a slow burning 2 minute instrumental start, that begins to drive and thrust with more urgency than Elvis's hips on MDMA before exploding into life replete with de rigueur forlorn vocals. Very nice! [...]
Tall Ships is Jamie, Ric and Matt from the UK. And at first watch, you might be put off, but on the second...
Don't you hate it when you have your beady eye on an epic-looking gig, you turn your back for a minute or go to the shop to acquire some biscuits and BAM - it sells out? Well if that is you, and the gig you had your eye on is Tall Ships at The Lexington, you have a chance for redemption here folks. In association with Monkeysuit we are giving away a pair of tickets to the gig on Tuesday 29th November, which will also feature Hook & The Twin and [...]
Tall Ships are certainly one of the brightest up and coming bands in England. When I first heard "Plate Tectonics" (my personal favorite), my jaw was dropped wide open. I couldn't believe a relati vely unknown band made one of the biggest sounding songs I have ever heard. It was something fitting for sold out arenas. I did get a chance to see the band for the first time at this year's CMJ, and it was easily my favorite performance out of the many I saw. Making the tiny Bowery Electric stage their own, they did some stage antics that I have never seen [...]

The madness that is CMJ Music Marathon has begun. Last night we ran around New York City and tried to cover as many chows as possible. Day one photo galleries of Tall Ships , Body Language , Penguin Prison , and more below. Photo credit: David English View Photo Album View Photo [...]

UK's frenetic Tall Ships lavished their garage-embroidered sails across the Lower East Side's Pianos Upstairs. The show started early enough in the evening that it's reasonable to suspect the crowd's energy hailing from the raw rock and not just the booze. Tall Ships includes a bunch of young, untarnished dudes who just wanna rock their effing instruments. The bassist proved perhaps most rewarding to watch. My eyes followed him from a table inches from my perched beer (he was standing on said table) to the top of... something else. From his [...]

Last time we covered Dad Rocks! , or Danish/Icelandic singer, guitarist, trumpeteer, father, and general all round good guy Snævar Njáll Albertsson, it was in restless anticipation of the imminent release of his debut full length Mount Modern . We have to wait until November 8th for that particular pleasure, but until then, it's worth heading over to Dad Rocks!' bandcamp , and getting your hands on his Big Scary Covers EP, which features four lovingly-crafted covers of some of the best acts [...]
