Keegan DeWitt offers up three remixed tracks for free. If you want some poppy goodness this is for you. The Tallest Trees' remix is my favorite. It's the type that's bound to be stuck in your head, but I don't think you'll mind. If remixes aren't your thing watch this video of the original version of "Two Hearts". The story is a familiar one of that time just before the relationship comes to an end. I like the perspective, imagery, and the story the video provides. "Two Hearts" - Official Music Video [...]

The entire month after the holidays is always such a drag. That euphoria that you spend two months building up in November and December becomes decimated by the bleh month of January. Although, my resolutions are still somewhat intact, I plan on trudging forward with any semblance of a positive 2011 plan to put 2010 to shame. To all of you that prepared any new year's resolutions, may you succeed and don't let the haters get you down. Oh Land-White Nights (Twin Shadow Remix) Keegan Dewitt-Two Hearts [...]

mp3: Keegan DeWitt - "Two Hearts" (Tallest Trees RMX) mp3: Keegan DeWitt - "Two Hearts" More outta Nashville, yes. Keegan DeWitt just put out a 73 on Theory 8 and now Nashville's Tallest Trees remixed the heck outta "Two Hearts" for a special EP release. A slow tilt groove to a heady climax, with some classic Tallest Trees flourishes. Nice, real nice. And I like it better than the original. In fact, if you're feeling extra real special grab the whole digital EP for [...]

The online music publication QRO Magazine recently asked me to curate a mix of indie pop songs in the "Knox Road" mold for their "Thank You For Being A Friend Giveaway" . Essentially, we teamed up with 3 other super blogs - Cream Team , No Modest Bear , and Anti-Gravity Bunny - to make four respective mixes as one of the prize packs for participants. Originally, the giveaway was going to be exclusive to QRO, but they've given us the go ahead to provide you with our mix. Regular readers [...]
When listening to The Ostrich or The Lark , by Nashville natives Tallest Trees , many adjectives come to mind, whether it be the on-point composition, or the seriously intriguing sound of the record; however, as a current Nashville resident, the overbearing thought that comes to my own sphere 'o' revue, is what(or how much, precisely) these guys have lifted from Animal Collective. This question is not meant in a negative or otherwise antagonistic way. They've taken stylistic cues from the Baltimore crew and added Nashville flavor. On "We Were Just An Echo", the duo enlightens [...]

mp3: Tallest Trees - "Alouette!" Review by Josh Spilker Score: 89/100 Maybe in "Echo (Part 1)" woods, a lake, bending, swaying, shimmering together. Those give way to a thousand sounds, "Alouette!" is the French lullabye we wish we all had always known, it took this moment for Tallest Trees to give it to us, but then we take a sip and a deep breath and remember that we're glad we have it at all. [...]
Hey, it's Jeremy from the Fingertips web site and I'm back this time with a two-month digest of the best songs featured on Fingertips since the summer started. This time I'll pick out three songs from each month, to give you a taste of what I've been charged up about. If you want some background on what I'm doing here, check out the May edition , in which I more fully introduced myself. From June: "Dear God 2.03 - the Roots You don't have to be [...]

So many influences and instruments at play I don't even know where to start. "Alouette!"'s got this tribal twee thing going on, with backing choral harmonies and an array of styles somehow strung together. It's that song you put on at a bonfire during the day, and instead of sitting around eating s'mores or telling ghost stories or singing kumbaya, people are up and dancing with strange moves and tossing their loved ones in the air. Tallest Trees - "Alouette!" [MP3] Tallest Trees, a duo out of Nashville, is releasing their forthcoming album, [...]

Tallest Trees was the band that made me get back to my computer so I could blog about them. From Nashville comes this duo who made my day, on their song Alouette ! they add whimsical xylophone to with indie sounds which really got me into a much sunny mood, I do hope it does the same for you. Tallest Trees - Alouette ! [...]

The Nashville-based group Tallest Trees have an upcoming album called The Ostrich or the Lark and they have given you a chance to sample their songs. If you haven't heard of them, their music has an affinity for misplaced instruments, clashing harmonies, yet all of it works into an entertaining piece. Here's what they say: It's kind of like "listening" to your little brother's coloring book -- lots of colors, most of them outside the lines, and the occasional slightly demented editing to the characters, but, for some reason, all [...]
Nashville's Tallest Trees offer jangled harmonies and offbeat rhythms on their debut full length. The pair seem to be having a lot of fun and we're pleased to offer a sneak peak off their record, The Ostrich or The Lark, which won't be released for some time. Today's Top Tune is "Alouette".
The Tallest Trees If you like Animal Collective or Keepaway then you will definitely love The Tallest Trees . Although I can't say its something I've never heard before I can tell you that they have a great sound. Other then that I can't say I know to much about them or that there is even any information available about them besides that they are an experimental pop duo from Nashville, TN. Above is my favorite song from [...]

Now that we're coasting towards the end of the year, and good new releases are pretty few and far between, I'm going to be spending the last few Monday nights of 2009 focusing on bands coming through Nashville, as well as bringing guests onto the show. Last Monday, I was delighted to bring Thomas and Dabney of Tallest Trees on the show, to chat about what they're up to and listen to some of the tunes I've been falling in love with for the past couple of months. Stream the [...]

Friday's a little bit tamer than Thursday's schedule - there are eleven showcases to choose from instead of fifteen, but the festival makes up for it with the first of two official after parties at City Hall. Friday's after party is sponsored by Red Bull and features The Dynamites , and I'm pretty sure everyone's going to end up there at the end of the night. But before that, you've got your work cut out for you deciding what to see. The Cannery has a great lineup - including Kindercastle , Cortney [...]
