Talons is essentially the work of Mike and Sommer Tolan, and together they make beautiful and heartfelt and soulful music. Even though the band is based in Chicago their music is very much rooted in nature. Most of the new album was written while Mike with living in Spain. The new album " Songs for Boats " is a collection of near hymns masterfully sungs over an array of acoustic guitars, autoharps, chord organs, clarinets, violin and lapsteel. EP In Manila opens with a short instrumental, "I Want Everything", before moving to a fairly bland uptempo number, "In Manila". It appears that comedian/musician Reggie Watts has a new duty, guiding the actions of Eagle and Talon on their new video, "For the Bond." This isn't actually all that strange, Watts contributes to the band's upcoming EP, In Manila , which is out tomorrow. We have a feeling that Eagle and Talon are the ones actually in control of this relationship.
Why am I posting this? Is it because it's "art", because the lead singer is a cutie or maybe it's funny? I'll let you come to your own conclusion's. Talons are an instrumental/math-rock outfit out of Hereford, United Kingdom. While these dudes aren't hard pressed on reinventing the tiring genre, they do pack quite a bunch with their ferocious blend of pummeling riffage and ceiling busting atmospherics.
