Yuck 's lead singer/guitarist Daniel Blumberg came onto the stage hunched over the microphone, almost mimicking the crude drawing on their album cover as he performed each song to perfection while making it look effortless. Their lengthy set before Tame Impala found the band performing a good chunk of tracks off their self-titled album, with highlights being "Get Away", "Georgia" and "Operation", the only song with guitarist Max Bloom on lead vocals. If you missed them, your in luck because the band will be back in a couple weeks with a headlining set at Bowery Ballroom .

Tame Impala played an incredible show to a smoke-filled room at Webster Hall Monday night. The Aussie psych-rockers played an-hour-and-15-minute-long set, which included "It Is Not Meant to Be", "Lucidity", and "Expectation" from their 2010 album Innerspeaker. The most cheers, however, came after a mindblowingly amazing cover of Massive Attack's "Angel", which you may remember is the first track off their hugely successful 1998 album Mezzanine. In a cute but very unrock-and-roll move, frontman Kevin Parker recovered from a trance-like state at the song's end to announce the name of the cover in a surprisingly chipper Australian accent. The [...]
HD Video by G. If you haven't become a die-hard fan of Australian rockers Tame Impala, I cannot recommend highly enough that you check out their album "Innerspeaker." Sonically they are a cross between the psychedelic era of The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Cream. I can't get enough of them. They performed a sold out show at New York's Webster Hall on April 25, 2011 and here's a sample of what you missed. Please note, on the screens behind the band, the lasers are programmed to react to the music! So cool! And now enjoy, "Alter [...]
Tame Impala and Yuck stopped by NYC's Webster Hall last night, April 25th. The date was apart of a two week stint, which will continue with a show at Philadelphia's First Unitarian

Photos by G. Kevin Parker of Tame Impala I have a serious band crush on Australian rockers Tame Impala . If you've never heard their music, you must do so immediately. Their music has qualities of Pink Floyd meets the psychedelic Beatles era and every song is spacey and rockin'. Lead singer Kevin Parker's voice has a fantastic blend of George Harrison and John Lennon's voice, without being derivative. Their debut album "Innerspeaker" is an hour long sonic journey and when I saw Tame Impala perform [...]

I'm obsessed with Abbe May WOW! I don't know what sets Perth, Australia apart from the rest of the country, but this western city keeps punching us out with bands that turn things upsidedown, from one of my favorite new bands in years, TAME IMPALE , to today's Song Of The Day, ABBE MAY . Think Tame Impale meets Massive Attack and you are getting close to this grungy freakiness. I only posses two tracks, this one and another instant hit, " Design Desire" [...]

Tame Impala Yuck If you have followed us for any period of time you know one of our favorite new bands is Yuck. They will roll into Portland tonight and open for Aussie psych rockers Tame Impala. Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm, $17 at the door. [...]

A smoky stage, chandeliers and a projector screen filled with colorful sound waves only begin to describe the Tame Impala show on Monday night. The Fillmore filled to the brim with adoring fans who screamed and shouted the moment that singer Kevin Parker stepped out on the stage. The foursome band from Australia played a dazzling show that kept the audience huddled to the front and shouting for more. A projector screen made this show particularly unique, as fans waited in anticipation for what was in store. But they found out it was worth [...]

Last year, Australian psychadelic rock band Tame Impala released their awesome debut album Innerspeaker, which nabbed spot number 20 in our Top 25 Albums of 2010 list. Since then, the band has hit wave after wave of success. Last Friday, the band made their way to Coachella, putting on an fantastic show that was very fitting for the hot, summery weather and hippie-esque nature that the festival is known for. You can watch their performance above, courtesy of The Audio Perv , and go buy Innerspeaker right now, 'cause it's amazing.

Today I was tested by the age old paradigm of perspective. It's easy to get blinded by the very context that makes you who you are. Life is full of surprises and expectations. There really isn't an answer to solve all of its complexities but there is a lot of power in the perspective we choose. Ultimately, the end result is the type of energy we emit. To quote The Books "Expectation leads to disappointment, If you don't expect something big huge and exciting... then... um... I guess it's just... I dunno." Another band that captures these sentiments [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , Exclusive Redferns After releasing one of the strongest albums of the 2010, 'Innerspeaker,' Australian psych rock band Tame Impala had a lot to live up to during their debut performance at Coachella on Friday (April 15). From the opening notes of their catchy, dreamy 'Why Won't You Make Up Your Mind?' it was clear that the band was [...]

After months and months of waiting and anticipating, Coachella is finally here. This will be my second (hopefully annual) trip to the festival and I couldn't be more excited. Our crew has increased from 2 to 7 this year and we will be staying for a few extra days to relax next to the pool and recover from our post-fest haze (I'm equally excited for those 2 days of sun and nothing else as I am for the festival itself). Last year, I provided a big list of festival advice taken from my experiences at other [...]

On April 5th, Walt Disney Records released a remix album titled Tron: Legacy R3CONFIGUR3D , where various artists rework Daft Punk 's tracks from their score to the movie Tron: Legacy . The record features contributions from bands like M83, Moby, and Boys Noize among other big names. Yet here in the States we will not see one of the most interesting remixes of that by the Aussie psych rockers, Tame Impala of the the Daft Punk "End of Line". It will only see daylight down [...]
