Well, I was right. My current Tangerine Dream immersion has pulled me into the outer reaches. And I have no choice but to take you with me. You'd be surprised how good this stuff sounds when you wake up and stretch in the morning. Something to do with greeting day in all its giant formlessness. And I'm sure it sounds better the further you get out into the solar system. Tangerine Dream - Mysterious Semblance At The Strand Of Nightmares

I am a big fan of progressive and psychedelic music - Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree - but never really researched it enough to get to know many more bands than what I've listed. However, I am tired of listening to the same old stuff, so I want to discover more bands from this genre. Help me, Captain Awesome! Anvith *** Anvith, Not a problem my awesome friend. I must admit, I've never actually heard of Porcupine Tree, but I am a huge [...]

There's a lot of pork in Asheville, NC. Like, tons. Everywhere you go, they're advertising beef, BBQ, and, well, pork. It's sort of funny because there's also a lot of tofu. (Hey, vegans gotta eat something.) And yet it's this polarizing, yet mutual, relationship that exemplifies the town's unique persona. Oh, delightful food. But food bonds us. It's the one thing that anyone can agree upon (anorexics, religious fanatics excluded): We gotta eat. And with a weekend party like Moogfest , which essentially strangles the town for three long nights, the overall community of food is an [...]

On Oct. 28, Moogfest 2011 will officially begin in beautiful Asheville, N.C. The festival, now in its second year, brings together artists from across the electronic and experimental music spectrum to celebrate the legacy of synth pioneer and music technology visionary Bob Moog . From musical legends such as Suicide , Tangerine Dream , and Terry Riley to up-and-comers CANT , Oneohtrix Point Never , and araabMUZIK to Amon Tobin 's elaborate and visually stunning ISAM show, the three-day festival truly provides something for every ear. Our buddy Nick Isasi (@noodlecast) is making the trek to this year's Moogfest and he's put together his list of must-see artists who are performing at the festival. The lineup is pretty amazing and we're excited to have him helping us cover the event... It's finally October, which means that it's less than a month to go until Moogfest. Out of the four music festivals I have personally attended in the last four months, I believe Moogfest has the strongest lineup full of legends and rising names. [...]

The word "pioneer" is tossed around much too freely these days, but the world surely lost one when Conrad Schnitzler passed away on August 4. A true trailblazer in electronic music, Schnitzler was in on the ground floor of the krautrock scene's electronic side, and kept on innovating down through the decades. As a founding member of Tangerine Dream , the Dusseldorf-born synthesizer sultan was not only a participant in krautrock's first bloom, but also part of the big bang of what would become known as the Berlin school of electronic music. The restless Schnitzler only hung [...]

His work spans the best part of 45 years and nearly 100 albums; he was working up until the last week of his life. Recently, he'd been working on the Global Living project, which saw him send packets of his hair to nine locations around [...]
Or, 80's Synth T.V. themes redux! This is a total rehash of a electronic rumors post from about three years ago, but I wanted to redo it with a few more tracks and some better quality version of a couple of the tune we featured last time. Also, back in the day it was all MediaFire and zShare and shit, and no-one likes that! So, here we have something a little different for this Sunday. Back in the 80's, 2011 seemed like the far, far, future and although we still have no jetpacks, flying [...]

He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg. Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor. Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you. (It's a summer jam, of sorts.) [ mix cover image by Marcus Claesson ] July 2011 Mix [...]
