Tanlines - Real Life Tanlines - O Seizing The Day Tanlines - New Flowers It doesn't seem like that long ago that folks had to have every album, be it an import or rare cuts, etc from every band they loved. The 1's & 0's, 3G Networks and vaporizing record stores have all but killed the majority of that ethos. Volume On is an import only release by this Brooklyn [...]

Woah, 2010 was a pretty awesome year for music. This here post is evidence of that fact. What follows is a compilation of all the tracks that have been stuck in my head all year long. Definitely check out the top 20 tracks, but also make sure you scroll through the whole list. Perhaps there is something down there that you missed (maybe)? Or to put it in terms that are "so 20103, these songs are full of epic win . This is my largest year end list yet (last year's list is [...]
When I began this listing crazy around the end of November/beginning of December I planned to do posts about each particular album/ep/song that I loved this year. Unfortunately the real world is more important than the blog. Below are my choices for favorite EPs of the...

Duck Sauce | photo by Erik Voake AiMT has been pretty slow in 2010, so I've tried to play catchup with these lists. This is the last installment of AiMT 2010 . I hope it's been all-around non-sucky for you. #25 Breakbot [ft. Irfane] - "Baby I'm Yours" [Ed Banger / Because] WATCH: [...]
We hope that we're not your only source for new music, because there are sometimes we're woefully behind on what's new/good. Like New York's Tanlines. We completely missed the boat on them, despite all the tweeting I saw about how good their EP was/is. No matter. If we are your only source of information, then...

Hey dudes, here's my list of favorite albums from the past year (20 10 , stoners). I picked twenty this year as a small tribute to this being the first year where debate on how to pronounce said year swirled fiercely and ardently. Is it "twenty-ten"? Or is it "two thousand ten"? How to decide? Anyhoo, I ranked 'em, but after the first 6 or 7, it's all pretty arbitrary. The Suburbs came out on top. Can you believe that shit?? . . [...]

Much of 20102s music came in EP form, wide and varied there was way too much to build a cumulative list. Instead State has compiled and A to Z. While not in anyway definitive think of our choices as a foundation of must-haves - be sure to let us know what we left out. A Active Child - Curtis Lane EP She Was a Vision by Active Child [...]
30. Wolf Parade - "Ghost Pressure" Wolf Parade released perhaps their last and perhaps their best record, 2010's Expo 86. Lovers of the Apologies-era Wolf Parade found something in this smoother, darker version of the band. On "Ghost Pressure," haunting, frozen synths dance around the ceiling like spectres before a playful, upstroke chorus implies that this paranormal activity might not be all

It's time for the Redthreat Best Songs of 2010. All personal opinion, of course. These are the ones that moved me the most. It was an incredibly strong year for Greyzone production, and was certainly one where I opened up to Indie Rock way more than previous years. I'd love to hear your responses. 01. Hackman - Always [ The Always EP ] 02. Les Savy Fav - Let's Get Out [...]
Laura Marling pode até ter tido Ethan Johns (produtor conhecido pelos melhores discos de Ryan Adams, Rufus Wainwright e Kings Of Leon) para garantir que seu "I Speak Because I Can" soasse como o álbum de folk tradicional que é, mas canções como "Rambling Man" provam que ela provavelmente conseguiria sozinha. A letra fala sobre autoafirmação (" let it always be known that I was who I am "), mas a voz de Laura traz a sensação clara que, mais do que ninguém, ela sabe que está a pôr verdades muito maiores em canções de 3 minutos. Tal qual seus [...]

In a developing habit of list-making, here's my top 40 songs released this fine and plentiful year. Think of it as some kind of alternative Top of the Pops. Enjoy. 40. If there was one "scene" I watched with great intent this past year, it would be the seemingly unprecedented barrage of hazy electro-pop releases that made their way onto the internet and into people's hearts/portable media devices. I've literally never listened to so much non-rock music as I have in the past 8 or 9 months. "Chillwave", as the genre has become known, was a divisive, early year buzz topic, created and championed the year before by (those danged) writers and bloggers to the dismay, chagrin, and annoyance of many. To others, it was simply a cozy conduit by [...]
We all know what it's like to operate through December, with the party season tempting even the strongest out on school nights. What you need is a day off, a warm blanket, a friend to come over with chips and a coke and a soundtrack to get you from the edge of the abyss back to the warm, glowing fug of December. A place where you can eventually feel like getting up, going out and doing it ALL over again. Solving your problems and delivering you back into the arms of the weekend are Julian Casablancas , [...]

It's a curious line to spin as we head down into December; but Tanlines are everywhere at the moment. As well as popping up as co-authors of Restless People 's maiden set this month, Jessie Cohen and Eric Emm have lent their collective name to remixes of everyone from Glasser , to Bombay Bicycle Club to The Tough Alliance ; bringing a touch of flamboyance and colour to proceedings, without exception. The Brooklyn pair cut their teeth in now defunct acts Professor Murder and Don Caballero , respectively. [...]

So it's that time of year again, the season of list-making. I said the same thing last year , but I still feel the same, so I am shamelessly copying and pasting. Though often overdone, and largely mediocre, a good remix can be a powerful thing. It can transform a great song into an even greater one, and a not that great one into an enjoyable listening experience. They allow music to transcend genres, and when done right, create a song that one thinks of as completely separate from the original. I've chosen to list these by remixer and [...]

Brooklyn production duo Tanlines both used to be affiliated with one of my favorite underrated dance-pop bands, Professor Murder, and while their new project might be a little less accessible, they never lose sight of that excellent pop sensibility. For new compilation Volume On , the group recruited the Rapture's Luke Jenner to throw vocals on a great, stuttering dance-reggae banger called "O Seizing the Day O." Brooklyn based duo Tanlines have just put out a limited edition, two cd compilation of their past oeuvre called Volume On that includes all those songs that will miss their debut full-length (out next year), such as ep tracks, remixes and previously unreleased material. To stream the compilation, check out the track listing and download [...]
