But coming from Priestbird - originally Tarantula A.D., natch - the horde responsible for Book of Sand (orchestral meets metal meets guybrarian) and for In Your Time (hard rock meets psychedelia meets down-the-block indie), "unexpected" is the norm. The music industry has been kinda rough on these guys. They started off as Tarantula several years ago, and released two great EPs under that moniker in 2004 and 2005. Unfortunately, they were sued by another band for the name Tarantula. With this, they changed their name to Tarantula A.D. and released a fantastic full-length debut, Book Of Sand . However, this name was apparently not satisfactory to the plaintiff, as they have continued to be involved in a legal battle up until very recently. Both acts were awesome, but CYHSY stole the show. The Brunettes were poppy fun (I think every member of the ensemble had a glockenspiel or xylophone), although they had trouble with the crowd as an opener.
