Monday's Sixth Annual El Rio Big Time Freedom Fest was a really, really good time, and Low Red Land 's final performance ever was appropriately heartfelt and nostalgia-inducing. Perhaps a little more surprisingly, considering how long it's been since the trio last played together, they sounded as tight and powerful as ever, and we briefly considered rushing the stage to beg them to reconsider the many new endeavors that necessitate the band's dissolution. Instead, Low Red Land's set served as a fitting end to a day [...]

This July 4th, come spend your holiday with us on the El Rio patio for the Sixth Annual El Rio Big Time Freedom Fest (3pm, $8, 21+). Six great bands are on deck to help celebrate the things that make this country great: indie music and afternoon beers. Oh, and freedom. Definitely freedom. By this point, we hopefully don't need to sell you on the many merits of John Vanderslice and Tartufi , two of our favorite local acts/comrades, but [...]
Now that Kickstarter has established itself as a legit option for bands to raise money and connect with their fans , new Kickstarter campaigns are popping up left and right, and bands/artists are coming up with new and creative ways to reward their fans for their contributions. Here are some local projects that have recently launched Kickstarter campaigns: Tartufi wants to create a new album - the duo's 7th release as a band, capping off 10 years of making and releasing music - and needs a little help [...]

Unsurprisingly, minutes earlier Dan Parlin and Danielle Deveau offered in just-about-unison "nineties" as an overarching musical influence shared among the four [...]
