Team B is the musical endeavor of Kelly Pratt (Beirut, Arcade Fire). The majority of their debut album was written and recorded while Kelly was on tour with Arcade Fire and Beirut in 2007 and 2008. Kelly received help from a few of his friends LCD Soundsystem's Pat Mahoney on drums, Jon Natchez and Perrin Cloutier from Beirut, and Arcade Fire's Richard Reed Parry on a few tracks. Look at the laundry list of names associated with the Team B project and you are likely to concoct an idea of how the group may sound. The list: Arcade Fire, Beirut, Stars Like Fleas, The Jealous Girlfriends... others. Now, prepared yourself because the result is likely the furthest from what you expect. Playing with Beirut and Arcade Fire can be a demanding task. Realizing this, Kelly Pratt decided that he should spend his downtime doing something more productive than keg stands. Piecing together songs in moonlit hotel lounges, backstage dressing rooms, and noisy airports, the charismatic Pratt fashioned an album lush with distorted trumpet solos, playful guitar riffs, and meditative piano-driven electronica. The aptly-named Team B consists of a myriad of musicians ranging from members of Beirut and Arcade Fire to LCD Soundsystem and Jealous Girlfriends.
