But the dry spell hasn't quite happened yet (and it will end shortly as the New Year parties start coming in); the high energy Team Robespierre are sure to kick this holiday week off right at the very small venue Bruar Falls. Recommended Show: SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2010 TEAM ROBESPIERRE, DINOWALRUS, and more @ ROBERTA'S 261 Moore Street Brooklyn, NY 11206 FREE, 10AM With Labor Day over and Fall approaching fast, it seems the Williamsburg neighborhood is trying desperately to the final days of summer. The JellyNYC Pool Parties are over, but that doesn't stop the bands of Brooklyn from performing for free on a Sunday afternoon. Team Robespierre , Dinowalrus , and many more will perform outside of the brick over pizzeria, Roberta's on Moore Street. [...]
These BK hipsters have been tearing it up and rapping over any and everything for awhile and finally got around to dropping their album 'Art School Girls' in April (bonus points for the 4/20 release). Ninjasonik is composed of Telli (who raps), Jah Jah (who from what I can tell does some of everything), and Teenwolf (who 'keeps the beat spinning'). I saw them live at a concert on the Connecticut River in NH and they brought an insane amount of energy. The crowd had dwindled slightly by the time they took the stage but they didn't really seem to [...]

Animal Collective play the Guggenheim; Man Man and Javelin perform at NYU. However, the best deal may just be Team Robespierre at Public Assembly. The show is a mere $5 and kicks off at 9PM. Ever since the demise of Atom and His Package, there has been quite the rising of quirky as dancy synth driven music in punk. Sure, I guess you can argue it started with New Wave, but those were the 80s, and everyone was smoking crack then anyway.Just ask Nancy.Team Robespierre is the punk rock answer to Matt and Kim: catchy electronic dance music with a bit of a punk rock bite. Why isn't there universal shorthand for tracks in which rappers individually single out their loved ones, from God to Mom to the local corner slinger? Lupe Fiasco's "Outro" is a bloated exampl... This was one of those shows where I felt instantly transported back to my days at Olde Club. Good bands playing short sets, and a PBR in between each. A great way to spend a Thursday night. I FINALLY got to see Team Robespierre, which was good, though a bit weary as I definitely needed to get up to go to work six hours later. My other main impression from the night was that Total Slacker are definitely on their way to buzzdom. Their live show is pretty fun, so I'd definitely keep my eye out for them in the [...]

Recommended Show: THURSDAY, JANUARY 28, 2010 IMPOSE PRESENTS TEST PATTERNS @ DON PEDRO 90 Manhattan Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11206 $5, 8PM Our friends over at Impose are having a party tonight. They've booked some really awesome bands for the evening including Team Robespierre , Truman Peyote , Total Slacker , Ana Lola Roman , and Horrorphans Easter Vomit . It all goes down at Don Pedro tonight in Brooklyn and all for only $5! There's apparently complimentary Colt 45 too...but don't expect that to last long. [...]

I haven't blogged about Team Robespierre since July, and it's high time that changes. If you've never seen their amazing high-energy live show, then now is the time. This is Impose's first Test Patterns of 2010, and it's shaping up to be a great one. I'm also intrigued by the Silent League show at Bruar Falls, but I was so taken by Total Slacker's show at Death By Audio last week that I'm recommending this show. Definitely the most intriguing new stage presence I've seen in awhile. Plus, this Truman Peyote band sounds at least faintly interesting from their MySpace. [...]

Team Robespierre at The Delancey (01/17/09) Photo : Tim Griffin Hey, if you don't have New Year's eve plans already, it might be a bit late to score tickets to some of these events, but here's a list of a few interesting things that are going on as we roll into 2010. New Year's Eve in New York City is quite possibly the craziest night of the year around these parts. People go absolutely nuts whether they are penned in like cattle in Times Square or celebrating a casual, drunken New Year with friends somewhere closer to home, people do not hold back for this holiday. Fittingly it is one of the busiest days of the year for the music venues of the city, booking acts and charging exorbitant amounts to allow people to pay even more for booze. It may not be my favorite night of the year to go out, [...]

Yeah, we didn't even realize that this Friday was the ultra dark and totally rad 13the of the month until a bit earlier today. Knowing that all sorts of shenanigans can occur on such a date, we got pretty excited for what's to come. Then we caught wind of this party...and now this day/night is going to all out rage! This Friday, November 13 Roberta's and Deth Killers Present FundRAISING HELL , a benefit party for Brooklyn Grange Farms. All proceeds go towards the new 1 acre rooftop garden [...]
