By way of Miami to Israel to Boston, Daniel Blue is a media artist that has been apart of the production backdrop of the film, music video and TV industry for the last 15 years, a true musician that not only performs, listens but genuinely immerses himself in the sound, and a photographer that beautifully captures images, then composites every single defined element into electric, still-waking moments of reality. Recently, Daniel Blue kindly contributed his time to share an interview and playlist with MIA. Enjoy! ~*~ [...]
Chino Moreno is a man of many hats lately, being in Deftones, Crosses, and Palms. Apparently that's not enough, as is evident when Moreno jammed with a few big names at Guitar Center. Chino Moreno hopped up on stage with Todd Wilkinson (Team Sleep), Chuck Doom (†††/Crosses), and Gil Sharone (Stolen Babies/ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan) for a set ... True fans of music spend countless hours searching for that next great song, album or artist, whether it be online or in a local record shop. The beautiful thing about music in today’s age is that technology has created an infinite supply of great music that is available to us at the click of a mouse. How perfect is that? We can discover a brand new artist on the opposite side of the globe in seconds without a radio or a music television channel. It only makes sense that a website so dedicated to this gorgeous universe of music would [...]

For those you living under a rock and have yet to hear about Crosses †††, go read my review for their first EP released last year. Go on...I'll be here when you get back. (Cicatriz makes a turkey sandwich). Oh back already? (swallows last bite of sandwich). Crosses †††, they're awesome, right? Why yes, that is Chino Moreno of the Deftones on vocals. What is that you say, you want more Crosses †††. Well you're in luck. On January 24th they released their second EP entitled EP ††. Yes it is as good as the last. What can [...]
Not Seth Putnam One mind-blowing aspect of Devin Townsend's Deconstruction album is its coterie of guest personnel. A who's-who of pivotal screamers, the list includes that awesome dude from Gojira, legendary super-stud Ihsahn, and extreme metal's loveliest alto, Tommy Rogers from Between The Buried And Me. And though Townsend rightly rushes to downplay the distraction/sketchy [...]
Ever heard of ††† (pronounced Crosses)? Probably not. It's Chino Moreno's new side project, featuring Far guitarist Shaun Lopez. The group is very similar to Team Sleep, which featured Chino and Waaves drummer Zach Hill. The band just released a new song that is being featured on Batman: Arkham City's official soundtrack, called The View, which ...
Poor old Frank Delgado - so often the forgotten member of Deftones. Although he's a member of the band, the fact that he wasn't "officially" a member till White Pony means that some (foolish) people out there (wrongly) regard him as a "secondary" member of Deftones. Well, this week we're going to do our bit to [...]
Crock - "Track 13 MP3/download Crock: A supergroup featuring Sam Coomes of Quasi/Pink Mountain and Spencer Seim of Hella/The Advantage/SBach? New album, Grok, coming out soon? JUST SHOW ME WHERE TO SIGN! I can't even believe my luck. Nigh a ... Continue reading

†††, or "Crosses" as they're bound to end up being known, is the brainchild of Chino Moreno from Deftones and Shaun Lopez from Far. They've gone and released a free EP, which you can get your hands on just by bunging them your email address. Don't be expecting it to sound anything like Deftones or [...]
I’ve had the same iPod since 2005. You can only imagine the stuff I have on it. Yesterday I decided to listen to a playlist that I made way back when. The jewel that I reconnected with was Team Sleep’s track called Ever (Foreign Flag) . It is off their self-titled album, which was released in 2005. Team Sleep is fronted by Chino Moreno, more so known for being the front man of Deftones. I’m feeling the experimental mood that is coming from this track; hope you do, too. Until next Monday...

Now we live in the ages of the Internet, it is not uncommon to become completely bored by experimental and ambient indie pop from singer-songwriters. Many are busy rattling through their computer software to make the eeriest of tones and its becoming to feel a little soulless. Read more..

Alright, let’s go back to summer 2008. I was playing ultimate frisbee with some friends, when a good chum of mine popped a recording of The Ladies into a CD player. It was exactly what I wanted to hear just then - and what I repeatedly played for the remainder of those warm months. I had forgotten all about their 2006 album They Mean Us , until I was scouring through my itunes trying to find something to introduce to dailybeatz. Rob Crow (Pinback) and Zach Hill (Hella, Team Sleep) make up the energetic, [...]

Looks like Deftones frontman, Chino Moreno, isn't only thinking about his band's upcoming tour with Dillinger Escape Plan but also about a new side project that's tentatively called Crosses. Moreno recently spoke to Noisecreep and revealed that he's been working with Shaun Lopez, guitarist of Far. Moreno says, "we've been recording this real minimal project where it's just me and him and another buddy of mine, Scott Chuck, and we're just writing these little pieces of music, whether it starts with piano or some down tempo beats." He adds that the [...]
Team Sleep release new song, 'Inside Is Natural' via a new Bandcamp page. It is good. There is now hope for a new album.

Zach Hill has been drumming since 1995 with among others Hella , Holy Smokes , Nervous Cop , Team Sleep , Wavves , Goon Moon , Marnie Stern , Crime in Choir , Bygones , CHLL PLL , and Flössin . On his second solo metal/noise/prog/punk/shred effort, Hill is working with Devendra Banhart , Guillermo Scott Herren (a/k/a Prefuse 73 ), No Age , Deerhoof , and umm... Hella . The album is called Face Tat . Listen. [...]
Yesterday afternoon, The PRP posted a mash-up of Isis' "Celestial" and Dead Prez's "Hip Hop" created CrookOne of Team Sleep. And it actually works pretty well, considering that there is absolutely no need for there to be any rapping over Isis music, ever. I mean, at least it's powered by an Isis riff and features [...]
There's a fine line between 'pretty' and 'vacant'. Just because you give off a general air of meaning, doesn't mean you mean anything at all.
As fiercely as I've tried to stay ahead of the indie-rock curve over the years, in truth I owe a lot of my innovations to one man: Zach Hill. He, after all, through the Masculine Drugs/Destroying Yourself is Too Accessible CD-and-book combo (which sold out long ago and is basically a forgotten relic these days), revealed [...]

Since the Earmilk is oozing out just a bit slower than normal, I’ve put together the perfect slow-times music to accompany you through the tough times. The regular lightning-fast server will be restored to its full glory in short order, but till then, enjoy the down-tempo chill jams. As always, find me chirping away @Crimestein.
