Photo by G. Curt Smith of Tears For Fears Curt Smith of Tears for Fears is planning on making a new solo album. The problem? Those things cost money! He's planning on starting a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds. On his official website he's thrown out a few ideas for perks depending on the level of donation, which include potentially - memorabilia, your name in the liner notes, and/or a Skype call with the singer. If any TFF fans have deep pockets, head over to [...]
So, if you ignore an James Corden associated abominations, Tears For Fears' 'Shout' is one of the best songs ever written, not many covers do it justice (and some (see aforementioned abomination comment) are so shit they barely qualify as music), thankfully London SynthPop trio Strangers ' take on the track is stop on. I've heard the track with distorted industrial percussion before, but always with terrible industrial vocals, here Strangers get electronically experimental with the beats but keep the anthemic, melodic ,vocals (which aren't easy to sing, so kudos there!) intact. It's an awesome slice of [...]
London electronic trio Born Strangers update the electronic production on a cover of the 1984 Tears for Fears classic 'Shout.'
If you don't know Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, they're this supergroup that played punk versions of non-punk songs - usually songs that you wouldn't ever in a million years consider for punk covers, like "Mandy" and "Don't Cry For Me Argentina." I knew a dude who was way, way into them, but the [...]

Ice Choir made their debut on the site last week with the incredible single 'Two Rings.' Now the newly formed collective have released some stunning Ryan Louie directed visuals for the track which you can enjoy above. Serious consideration for our upcoming top songs of the year list. Icy synths, airy vocals and very 802s..... what's not to like!

Ryan sent me this last weekend when it was actually snowing in the city. It was Halloween weekend and all of a sudden there was miserable snow everywhere threatening to ruin all the crazy festivities. I DJ'd at Elle that and then somehow ended up in a Brooklyn warehouse Halloween party till like 9 the next day so I didn't get to post this when it was most appropriate. Either way, the snow might be gone but old man winter is only getting started and for that reason it's my pleasure to welcome back Mr. Radler and his new cold [...]

What with Gruff Rhys shacked up in the Hotel Shampoo , dissociating himself from fellow Super Furry Animals, our telluric isles are in dire need of space cadets and their extraterrestrial sounds. And that, quite fortunately, is precisely what Ocean Of Frequency, the fourth (yes, fourth) full-length from Dublin's Jape is brimming with. The 53 seconds of opener An Hallucination prove suitably delirious, and sound like Tears For Fears drifting in and out of various solar systems, Richie Egan's vocals feathery and warped as if crossing time zones of varying lightyears. (Time, logic, and [...]
I'm generally not wild about any covers, especially those of '80s bands that I revere. Tears for Fears is one of them. Dutch Uncles took the unenviable task of reinterpreting their hit song 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World' and I have to say, they did a great job. The guitars do justice to the originals, and singer Duncan Wallis's voice sounds perfectly suited to the tune. I hope Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith are listening... You can listen to and get the Dutch Uncles version from their Facebook page [...]

Our good ol' friend Testarossa has just changed his artist name into Rossa . Of course he will still keep on doing great music and his first release "Tough Life" EP will be out on Young Society Records this autumn. So join Rossa's new Facebook fanpage to keep track of what his up to in the future. This is the first Rossa track with his new name and it's an edit of a classic Tears for Fears track. Nice one Rossa! Tears for Fears - Shout (Rossa Edit) [...]
Steve Jobs 1955-2011. Computer Age - Neil Young The Boss - James Brown Computer Wprld - Krafwerk Genious of Love - [...]

I take my eyes off of Katie Holmes for a couple of years and look what happens... "Here come the water works..." - Regina Bouie (the woman I affectionately call "mom") This was my least favorite phrase as a child ("You can't have that Nintendo game until you get your report card," was a very close second).
