Vive La Noiz - Bird Song Vive la Noiz could be seen as the usual alternative/indie band. Two girls and two boys starting a band in [...]

It's been a year since Jason from The Pop Cop started Music Alliance Pact, a loose group of country specific blogs such as the one you're reading to showcase to each other's readership. Each month I choose a song that I think reflect the best of Australian music has to offer to the blogs. They are not necessarily the biggest hits or the most popular songs, but more what I think has the best chance of being listened to in the international blog readership. I hope you've enjoyed them because we will continue to do this as long [...]

October 15 is a landmark day for The Pop Cop as it is precisely one year since we introduced the world to the Music Alliance Pact. It really has been a global effort to get this far. From the initial 12 blogs/nations who joined the project, MAP has expanded to the 34 you see here today, the latest additions being Popop from Estonia and Deaf Indie Elephants , who are standing in for our regular Venezuelan contributors. Big or small, democratic or communist, there is a place [...]

With all the new, modern architectural marvels dotting the Indian landscape, like fancy-shmancy shopping malls with neon night clubs on the top floor, it's only fitting that the Indian soundscape evolves to reflect its environment. Teddy Boy Kill leaves Talvin Singh sounding like a colonial era courthouse in comparison, and MIDIval PunditZ like the theka on the corner. This debut album opens impressively with dancefloor anthem 'Tonic', instantly reminiscent of Black Strobe and latter-day New Order. Suspenseful crescendos and dominatrix dynamics prompt frenetic body movements. Toymob's sing-song beat poetry brings back sultry memories of a first lover's sweet [...]

Mouse On Mars rock . Despite being generally proclaimed as pioneers of "electronica" and flown in by the Goethe Institut as the German headliner of their third annual "Festival Electronica", these guys definitely do not just check their e-mail on stage while occasionally pressing play. That is, except when one of their laptops accidentally logs on to a latent Wi-Fi signal and receives a call on Skype! "Sorry son, can't chat now, I'm rocking Delhi," is approximately what Andi Tomas communicated to his son, as he and his partners Jan St. Werner and Dodo Nkishi very physically unleashed [...]

The Soundpad album is now in record stores proving that it is actually possible to complete an Indian rock project on schedule. We'll be checking to see how many of these acts deliver their CDs on time: Soulmate's Moving On will be out on June 11, and next month should also see the release of an album by Teddy Boy Kill. The Supersonics' debut has now been rescheded to July, while Them Clones's forever-in-the-making Love.Hate.Heroes will "drop" in August. Also set for release "sometime this year" are albums by the prolific Shaai'r + Func, [...]
