i've got some tracks today that you might want to pop in your car stereo, just so that everyone else can know that you have good taste. there's really no thread tying anything together (although if you can find one, i'm all ears), they're just good songs. right. now. as for the lemonheads , well, evan dando and the crew will always have a special bit part in my heart, mostly leftover highschool memories, and mostly good ones. the teddybears amuse me. i have no idea why. and the rapture make me [...]

You might have already seen these floating around, but I just wanted to offer them up here as well. While their name is terrible this group from Sweden has an interesting sound. Not sure if I am totally on board yet but when a group pairs up with Diplo on a remix and Iggy Pop is featured on a track you can say that I am intrigued . The Stockholm-based collective is set to release their U.S. debut Soft Machine, September 12 th on Big Beat Recordings . The [...]

Jocke, one half of Stockholm's Teddybears, explains the effect of the band's formative years on its current sound, "Nowadays, there's not a lot of punk in our music anymore I guess. We get some outlet for that kind of frustration in other areas of our lives, like painting, skateboarding and Nietzsche-reading." Though it [...]

Stockholm, SwedenTeddybears formed way back in 1991 and have made five albums over the course of fifteen years. They were originally a metal punk band but shifted their sound toward a more electronic feel for their third album. Soft Machine is the group’s fifth effort and contains the song “Cobrastyle,†which has been used in multiple commercials and a video game. Also, one of their members is
Avid readers of Exitfare know that the site was birthed in Philly, and I hold Philly-centric things close to me, like Wawa, cheesesteaks and Tastykakes. Although not originally from Philly, Diplo has made the city his homebase, starting the insane Hollertronix nights and just generally infusing the scene with a lot of great tunes. Normally one to get behind a lot of remixes, Diplo reworks "Cobrastyle" from Stockholm-based Teddyhears , a track that will be featuted on Soft Machine, which drops Sept. 12th on Big Beat . No doubt you've probably heard the Teddybears single "Cobrastyle" by now. It's exactly the kind of ubiquitous pop hit that ends up on infinite repeat and follows you everywhere you go. Kinda like the Caesars' "Jerk it out" was a few years back, and oh man did they ever play that one to death. It's fitting that both songs are from the same mind, Mr. Jocke Ã…hlund. Another parallel: both bands' US debuts are not actual albums, but collections of various tracks. Not quite what I'd call 'greatest hits', but along those same lines. It's no surprise then that both [...]

MP3: TEDDYBEARS "Cobra Style" ( Filter ) Quirky Swedish indie pop band Teddybears pulls from techno, reggae, and new wave influences on this song from their upcoming U.S. debut Soft Machine . tags: music | mp3 | indie rock | indie pop
Stockholm collective Teddybears will release their U.S. debut, Soft Machine, on September 12th. The album is a mash up of styles from garage punk beats to dancehall to Krautrock. Guest vocalists include Iggy Pop, Neneh Cherry, Ebbot Lundberg (The Soundtrack of Our Lives) and Mad Cobra. Teddybears have been putting out albums in Sweden since the '90s as a hardcore punk band: over time their

As of late, Teddybears have been all over the (music) blogosphere with their unique style of electro-kraut-rock. No surprise. There is something about Teddybears that is very easy to like. You know working with everybody from Iggy Pop to Mad Cobra to Annie has probably helped capture a large array of fans. Perhaps their only shortcoming is they try to do too much. Like, they're good at the many styles they do rather than being amazing at and honing in on one specific sound. Or maybe that is just from working with totally different vocalists. I don't know if it's necessarily [...]

Still can't get them out of my head! Looks like Diplo can't either. You may have read about Teddybears Stockholm here ( mokb post ) or you may not have, but either way you should check this out. Teddybears Stockholm - Cobrastyle Teddybears Stockholm - Cobrastyle (Diplo Remix)

Iggy Pop is a musical hero of mine, so I like to see him keeping busy. Sadly, it's obvious that his critical faculties are a bit fried and he's ready to collaborate with any old body. I believe his last record had a Sum 41 dude on it. Don't get me started on that horrible Peaches duet (although the video where they fight zombies is a little redemptive). The man does wonders with simplistic faux stupid, but he can't save actual stupid. Here are some nice uses of Iggy's [...]
