Iggy Pop is a musical hero of mine, so I like to see him keeping busy. Sadly, it's obvious that his critical faculties are a bit fried and he's ready to collaborate with any old body. I believe his last record had a Sum 41 dude on it. Don't get me started on that horrible Peaches duet (although the video where they fight zombies is a little redemptive). The man does wonders with simplistic faux stupid, but he can't save actual stupid. Here are some nice uses of Iggy's [...]

It's honestly quite criminal that Rhymefest isn't getting a serious push from his label considering how dope his album is. I mean, I have a couple of qualms ("Stick" sounding a bit too derivative of David Banner's "Play", his drawl sounding too Kanye-ish at times, even though 'Fest very well may have invented it...), but my nitpicking aside, it's the best album I've heard since E-40's latest.

Canada isn't the only country full of collectives. Swedish dance/big beat/totally whatever collective Teddybears will bring their chaos to our shores on September 12th with the release of Soft Machine . The list of guest vocalists is pretty fucking insane, bringing together the likes of Iggy Pop. Neneh Cherry, Elephant Man, Annie, Ebbot Lundberg of Soundtrack of Our Lives and Mad Cobra. Over brunch recently, my friend Barbara said to me: "Lately I just really want to go out and dance. I haven't done that in so long." On this same note, my intern Dan asked me to make him an "indie rock dance mix." I did, and he said he only liked half of it, but that's just how intern Dan is (you suck! hahaha). Anyways, here quickly are some fun dance tracks for your indie party, or to listen to at your desk at obnoxiously loud volumes like I [...]

Teddybears feat. mad Cobra - Cobrastyle Teddybears feat. Iggy Pop - Punkrocker I recommend this one! What if you put Ratatat, Roll Deep, and Can in a blender? Well, you might get something that sounds like Teddybears, a bizarre but catchy mix of punk, electro, dancehall, and krautrock. Their album is due out September 12th and includes remixes from Diplo, Squeak E Clean, and Spank Rock.
