It's valentine's day, that special day where single people are bitter and wish they were in relationships and people in relationships wish they were single... oh and something about Al Capone killing a bunch of people on a boat or something. Here's a little vday mix for all you punk hearts out there, because I'm your valentine. MP3: Propagandhi - Utter Crap Song (The As Close To An Emo Song As We'll Ever Get Song) Bouncing Souls - I Like Your Eyes [...]

As we prepare to close the books on 2011 and open the books on 2012, we here at Punknews would like to give artists (and other music industry types who pay the toll) a chance to look back on some of their favorite records, books, experiences and all other manner of madness from 2011. Today we're lucky enough to have Tim Brown of Elway , Chris Farren of Fake Problems and Ray Carlisle of Teenage Bottlerocket .

Teenage Bottlerocket will be returning to the Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado to record their next album for Fat Wreck Chords . The band will be working with engineer Andrew Berlin and had this to say: This has been the best year in Bottlerocket history, and we're anxiously looking forward to the new year! We are especially excited for 2012 because we are heading back to the Blasting Room to record a new full length in February. So far we know that we'll be working with longtime TBR engineer Andrew Berlin, and that Fat [...]
I remember when Richmond's The Haverchucks first sent me their demo earlier this year, I was completely blown away. Seriously, it's been a while since a demo has had me so hooked. So when I found out that they released a 5 song Self Titled 7 inch, you know I had to check that shit out immediately (as in, immediately after I found out...)Released back in May, the self titled 7" continues

OMG, like my three fave guitar bands playing on the same night in Chicago this past weekend? Why wasn't I there? Sheesh! Teenage Bottlerocket , Urge Overkill and Weezer all killed it at Chicago's Riotfest 2011 this weekend. Critical Mass, which has the goods , wrote about Urge Overkill's set: "They blasted through such UO classics, new and old, like "Positive Bleeding" and "Bottle Of Fur" from their breakthrough album Saturation, and "The Break" from their last album from the 90's, Exit The Dragon mixed in with "Mason/Dixon" and [...]

Oh, what a weekend Chicago has in store for us all. Riot Fest , which technically kicked off yesterday, continues with big, big, big shows around town including DANZIG, Smoking Popes and Weezer. But if you're not into the insanity of our annual punk-a-thon, look no further than T-Bone at Quenchers, Great Society Mind Destroyers at the Viaduct and a few more fests we think you'd enjoy immensely. You don't want to find hell with me, mother. So let's get to it. [...]
So this past weekend, I was driving and some guy sideswiped my new car... Ok, shitty situation but not the end of the world. It was strange how it happened, as it almost seemed intentional. I got out to talk to the guy, and he was all "oh I'm sorry, let me go in my car and get my insurance info". He goes into his car and GUNS it, with me standing right in front of his car.I jump out of
While I've been a fan for The Copyrights for a little while now, I usually skip through their albums looking for specific songs and rarely listen to the album as a whole. With their latest and fifth studio release of "North Sentinel Island", The Copyrights mix things up a little bit, and the album blends together much more.Known for their upbeat, catchy pop-punk, The Copyrights bring in a

Australian national treasures Frenzal Rhomb will be touring their homeland this September, with Teenage Bottlerocket tapped to open all dates. Click below for the details. Frenzal Rhomb will be releasing a new album entitled Smoko At The Pet Food Factory on August 19, 2011 via Shock Records in Australia. No word yet on a North American release. Teenage Bottlerocket recently issued the Mutilate Me 7-inch via Fat Wreck Chords .
NOFX may have been a strange, some might say unsuccessful, presence at Bonnaroo this year , but Fat Mike and crew are maintaining their status as punk powerhouses with their loyal fans. Two years ago the band promised those fans an album of 80's hardcore covers, and now they're finally ready to release it. Though lacking an official title (album art is to the right), the 7" vinyl record is set to drop on August 2nd thanks to Fat Wreck Chords . There also isn't any word on a tracklist, and there's no [...]

Teenage Bottlerocket Mutilate Me (Fat Wreck Chords) On the title track of this new single, "Mutilate Me," Teenage Bottlerocket manages to change up their usual "1234!" song structure, and go for something a little more akin to what you might hear on MxPx's Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo. Yes, I know that ...
Last night (this morning?) on the Radio 1 Rock Show, Reading & Leeds Festivals confirmed the line-up for the Lock Up Stage - the two days of the festival where the third biggest stage is given over to punk. And despite us often joking among ourselves that it always seems to be 20 bands picked [...]

Ever since they rose from the dark streets of New York's Bowery via Queens, the Ramones have been worshiped by punks and pop fans alike. And rightly so. The faux brothers - make that bruddahs - invented a completely new sound, blending outsider angst with bubblegum pop, for a hybrid style that's still popular today. Though it took a decade for bands to begin aping the Ramones directly, the style the quartet invented went on to become a full-fledged punk rock sub-genre: Ramones-core. Here's a look at some of its best proponents: Chixdiggit! [...]

Me First and The Gimme Gimmes , Teenage Bottlerocket and Cobra Skulls will be touring together on a week long tour leading to The Fest 9 in Florida. The tour stops at the Temptress Cruise in NYC on October 22nd, Music Hall of Williamsburg (CMJ Showcase with special guests Smoke or Fire , Dead To Me and The Flatliners ) on October 23rd and Asbury Lanes on October 24th. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes' last release was 2008's compilation album Have Another Ball .

One of my fave bands Teenage Bottlerocket plays nearby on Monday night and I aim to be there. Teenage Bottlerocket leads a rockin' bill at Mesa Underground Monday night with Look out Look, Bear Awesome, Banner Pilot and Raina-Fire. Buy advance tickets ($8) here .
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones are on the road again, this time for a mini-tour that excludes their hometown Boston, of all places. According to BrooklynVegan , the aging ska band has booked a week and a half of U.S. dates from one coast to the other. The Bosstones' website reveals the tour, in support of last year's Pin Points and Gin Joints , is focused on places they "haven't been to in a really long time." The impression that I would normally get (sorry) from that information is that the band is headed [...]
