Hey there! You should read this original post on the hill by going here: Teenage Kicks - Be On My Side It's an odd thing to say, but it often happens that my affection for a particular album can result in a review or post dedicated to said album going up much, much later than it should. Seems odd to essentially punish a record I like, but this happens because I want to find the time to write something half-coherent about it, and of course that time never comes. The latest record [...]
Herohill delivers another fantastic compilation, with 'The Bard of Montreal,' their tribute to Leonard Cohen.

Here are the photos that was taken at the Rainbow Bistro on March 27th. It took me awhile to get these photos done. Playing at the show was: • Teenage Kicks • Farewell Davidson • Cal Walker The show started off with Cal Walker who did a solo set. The music was very indie [...]

For the second instalment of our Monthly Musical Matter, we've come over all nostalgic at The 405. Oh, youth, fleeting, foolish and full of terrible, terrible decisions. How did I not become a famous footballer/thespian/singer? Why didn't I kiss that person? Or why the hell did I kiss that person? And why, oh why, did I listen to that!? Well, obviously, all of us here had impeccable music taste from an early age, crawling around to the sounds of bebop jazz and growing up to a soundtrack of post-punk and krautrock, but we wondered what [...]

I've been friends with the brothers of Teenage Kicks for a few years now - I left Toronto when they were really just coming into their own after many incarnations of bands before. It's been pretty incredible to return back to Toronto to see their growth, but also their familiarity. Their music reminds me of this city - it reminds me that there are real dudes making real music up here. They're not interested in following trends and never aspired to be a 'hype' band and for that reason they've not only endured, but [...]
You might remember Teenage Kicks for their pretty great Rational Anthems EP last year. If you don't: Go check it out right now , then come back here. If you do: You'd be smart to check out what the band has been cooking up since then. In addition to another EP, Be On My Side , that will be released on March 2, they recently launched the Teenage Kicks' Singles Club , where they'll be sending up a two-track single every two months, all for the mere cost of an email address. I should think [...]

Canadian rockers Teenage Kicks have introduced a singles club where for the exchange of an e-mail you will receive a new A and B side for your listening pleasure. Here is the B side of their first single. I seriously love the guitar in this! Rock on. Teenage Kicks- Fake Problems

I shant lie to you, I pretty much loved Teenage Kicks last EP , Rational Anthems , and so any news from the band is welcome on my cyber doorstep. And there appears to be TK news aplenty right now, as not only will they be playing in Halifax on March 30th (Michael's with Wildlife and Glory Glory), but their new EP, Be On My Side will be released on March 2nd. But that's not all! Teenage Kicks recently launched their Singles Club , and for the low, low price of simply your [...]

by teepoo I'm excited to hear more Teenage Kicks soon. Their EP titled Be On My Side will be released March 2nd with a show at the Horseshoe. I've always been a fan of Teenage Kicks and their soulful tracks. There's a bunch of free goodies on Bandcamp including Lose Your Head . Teenage Kicks- Lose Your Head

This used to be a semi-dormant rock and roll blog. Now it's a semi-dormant rock and roll blog with style.
This is the story of NXNE told through the perspective of its softer moments, of the things that were there before and will remain to stay long after the last hashtag.

Teenage Kicks , taking their name from a song by Northern Irish punk group The Undertones , are building quite a fan base. Their EP Rational Anthems marks a solid foundation, and the fact they chose to release it as a free download only led to their sound spreading like wildfire. Their strength in song-writing and no-nonsense approach make them an act people will follow for years to come. In our interview, Jeff van Helvoort - bassist, vocalist, and brother of band-mate Peter - talks Rational Anthems and NXNE. [...]

Teenage Kicks' debut album, Rational Anthems EP , was released this past Tuesday after much teasing and sampling on Exclaim.ca . The six-song collection showcases the Toronto quartet's handle on gritty rock 'n' roll. Having their sound been compared to The Constantines, the band's musical influences include classic rock bands, The Who and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Pick up the EP for a mere price of a tweet . The official CD release party is being held Friday night (April 29th) at Toronto's The Horseshoe Tavern. Supporting acts include: Goddamn Robots, The North [...]

Oh I'm sorry, were you looking for some fancy blog-hype song and dance routine about why you should check out Toronto's Teenage Kicks and their new EP Rational Anthems ? Well you aren't going to get it from me. I'll try to put it as concisely as a certified rambler such as myself can: Teenage Kicks are a rock & roll band with indie sensibilities aplenty, and enough hooks to keep you coming back for more. I stumbled across Teenage Kicks last year, and posted their debut 73 as [...]
Even without the backing of a release, Toronto's Teenage Kicks have been ripping up the local scene. That should launch into yet another gear as the band releases their debut EP, Rational Anthems, on April 26th. The opening track "Brooklyn Bridge" is methodical and smoldering hard rock with wrenching vocals that smack of Greg Dulli. As the record unfolds, there's a decidedly southern rock
I tend to harp on bands who, for whatever reason, stick to more traditional instrumentation. The tried-and-true lineup of guitars, bass, and drums is fine, but all-too limiting, restricting an artist to creating what often sounds like different versions of the song. But every once in a while, one of these bands finds a way to prove me wrong and make the straight-up rock genre interesting again. They can capture a certain desperation and frustration with huge pathos. Ladyhawk pulled it off perfectly a few years ago with Shots , and more recently Japandroids and PS I Love You [...]
