![[Hype Hype Hooray] "Drugs" and TEENS](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4259353_lg.jpg)
Every [two weeks?] Jamie Hale takes a long, hard look at the music industry and the blog scene that feeds it. Here, he releases those findings and makes snarky, sarcastic remarks. Admittedly, both Jamie and Knox Road are a part of this scene. So sue us. The other day I was listening to "Drugs," by Black Lips when the message of the song really set in. The track jump starts: "Rad attitude and my nose is a runny / I like you lots but you think that I'm a dummy / Can [...]

It's April 20th, and here we have a free EP from a French dubstep duo High Dudes . With a name like that, there's not a single day more fitting then 4/20 to introduce you to their skills. High Dudes have a very laid back approach to their productions. They love injecting their tracks with satisfyingly deep and drawn out synths, gut wrenching bass notes, and dramatic ambiance that is nothing short of epic. In this most recent 4-track EP, the duo has included two brand new originals as well as great remixes from Macrowave & Teen. [...]

Most acts will tout achievements like winning a Grammy or being awarded the Polaris Prize. But few will tout a High Times magazine Doobie Awards nomination with such high regard as Seattle feminist punks TacocaT do. The four-piece released their debut LP, Shame Spiral , back in 2008. Self-described as "Go-Go's meets The Monkees," the group uses pop culture references (e.g. tacos, gum, and lighters being popular topics) to make serious political and social commentary that transcends the confines of mere pop-punk. On March 13th, the band will [...]
Folks remarkably simply state that the relationship is literally over and to shift on. However exactly what they fall short to realize or rather refuse to accept is literally that one have resided the relationship and when it perishes it injures, and injures remarkably profound. You are literally left with two option either to have used to the distress or strive your bets to present the relationship a next chance. Here one can make usage of [...]

NYC-based Teen have been playing together for about a year now. It's fronted by Teeny Lieberson, formerly of Here We Go Magic; who's teamed up with her sisters, Katherine and Lizzie, and two other female musicians, Jane and Maia, to form an all-girl harmonizing powerhouse. I met them in Sunnyside, Queens, to film a few songs; featured here are: "Why Why Why", "Come Back", "Charlie" and "In Limbo". They have some songs up on bandcamp , and you can keep in touch via Facebook . photo: [...]

Exciting new band to come out of NYC. These girls can sing.

Teen is a 5 piece all girl band originating from Brooklyn, NY and was actually featured yesterday in last weeks edition of the Indie Sabbath . After listening to the entrancing " Just Another " with all the beauty that is lofi fuzz layered with echoing harmonies I really needed to re-blog these ladies with a focus. Members of the band include Teeny on Guitar/Vocals/Keys, Lizzie on Keys/Vocals, Jane on Bass/Vocals, Katherine on Percussion/Vocals and lastly Maia on Drums/Vocals. Seeing that Teen has a full cast of all ladies and all vocals it really [...]

We had a busy Thursday night at CMJ, catching some of NYC's best all-female bands at the Tom Tom Magazine party and checking out some dance-worthy buzz bands.
Today, we're introducing a new series called Area Codes, and the focus of this biweekly feature is local music scenes across the United States and the globe. In a music landscape where musicmaking has been largely democratized and the notion of a regional sound is an outdated concern, local music scenes seem to still be flowering or starting up in unexpected locales. So for the inaugural Area Codes, we're headed to Boise, Idaho, a slept-on town living on Mountain Time, a city that flaunts a striking balance between both urban and rural qualities. Tweet From Boise, Idaho, come garage poppin', surf rockin' TEENS . But if this is garage-pop, it's a little dirtier, a lot more lo-fi; if this is surf-rock, it's about as close to surf rock as Beat Happening ever got, which is to say, I'm glad they went in another direction. Though they list their direct influences as the 13th Floor Elevators, The Animals, The Byrds and The Zombies, I was grateful that the sound doesn't immediately give it away. TEENS have a [...]

Interview by Louise Coles In his short recording career, Fantasy Rainbow (a.k.a. one man act Oliver Catt) has already drawn complimentary comparisons to the likes of Deerhunter, No Age and Wavves. His restless, mischievious lo-fi experimental tendencies belies a pop nous with a youthful vigour. The sunny, hazy melodic tone of his records are filled with a bittersweet pang of a young age coming to an end. Here Oliver chats to us about youth, new beginnings, and his choice of mayonnaise over ketchup... [...]
Travels have been very much the order of the month here recently, so it seems only fitting to return to normal programming with the further exploits of Fairweather Academy and their "Well Traveled Man". A musical (and artistic) journey that I first previewed earlier this summer, the story is now furthered significantly with journal entries and a [...]

Stop it. Stop it. Just fucking stop it. Don't panic, this is emphatically NOT about pedophilia. Before you get your knickers in a twist have a quick look at the tracklisting, and in particular the band names, and hopefully you will see why the podcast has the name it does. So what am I really on about? Well, I happened across a band recently called Young Girls, and it finally became clear that after Bear Crystal Wolf Fuck Ghost bands, the new fashion is quite clearly paedo bands. Band whose names, whilst not exactly dodgy in themselves, lead [...]

There's no doubting the importance of the internet in the spider's web that is the modern day music industry. Whilst there are those who would argue that the phenomenal rise of digital methods is leading to a subdued and distorted view on the release of new music; the pro's of online promotional mechanisms are often overlooked. Music videos are easier to create and distribute, album artworks are possibly more important and diverse than ever and the integration with social media outlets providing a platform for discussion is invaluable. One musical group who have warmly embraced the new avenues [...]

BFFs Taylor Swift and Selene Gomez were the belles of the ball that was last night's Teen Choice Awards . Altogether, Swift, who's currently tearing through the great American pop songbook while on tour , surfed away with six awards, including Choice Music: Female Artist, Red Carpet Fashion Icon and the Ultimate Choice Award. Her pal Selena and The Scene nabbed boards for Choice Music: Group, Single and Love Song (for aptly-titled "Love You Like A Love Song," of course). Catch the full list of TCA 2011 winners below. [...]
