No Age are playing a free show tonight at Southstreet Seaport, with Abe Vigoda and Telepathe. When I saw No Age last year at the Bowery Ballroom/CMJ show they absolutely rocked. And with a recent surge in popularity, their show tonight should be a must-see. LA tropical punk band Abe Vigoda and Brooklyn's experimental synth-noise trio Telepathe are also well worth checking out so get there early! The show starts at 7:00. No Age - Eraser (music video)
Monday: The Jaguar Club @ 7pm $8 The week after the 4th is usually a pretty slow week with a lot of folks out of town for the week, but lucky for us Monday night is really the only slow show going night of the week. I haven't even heard this band so who knows, but there really isn't much to choose from out there. The Jaguar Club - "Who Says We're the Last" Tuesday: Crystal Antlers + Chairlift (
Help me out here. Is this post just an exercise in futility? Surely there can't be many amongst the music loving populous still ignorant to the sounds of Brooklyn based androgens Telepathe ? Vidi : Telepathe performing Threads and Knives at New York's Studio B Their new single 'Chrome's On it' (out this week on South London's rather splendid No Pain in Pop label) is a beat-smart, hook happy slice of process pop [...]

Because I don't get out to so many gigs these days, it's over a year now since I;ve been to an Upset! The Rhythm show. That's a great shame, because their gigs are always ace. But I still check the website to see who they're putting on, and have a listen to the bands. Most of them I haven't heard of before and almost all of them are worth checking out. Last month they put on a show by High Places and Telepathe. After some quick Googling and downloading, here's what I found. [...]

So like I haven't posted anything for a while. I've kind of been busy lost in my own mind trying to decide if I should go overseas or if I should throw away my life looking for a full time job. So what have I discovered? Well not much, but in a space of one week I did find out that magic mushrooms grow behind my old high school oval and that my mum knows that i used the word 'cunt' and/or 'cunty' in my last post NO AGE If you [...]

So, it's May. That means it's time we start looking back on the year. Without further ado... Photo by Frank Yang I went into Tuesday night's Kills show at the Opera House most interested in how the duo of Jaime Hince and Alison Mosshart - Hotel and VV to their friends - would pull it off live. Their latest album Midnight Boom , the only one of theirs I'm familiar with, is not the sound of two people playing live. It's a patchwork of buzzing guitars, jalopy drum machines and found sound effects - easily recreated with backing tapes, but my experience is that [...]

It is a packed weekend of shows again. Here are some of the highlights: Friday 80s superstars Crowded House are back. How this works without one of the Finn brothers, I don't know, but I am sure those radio hits you remember will be on the set list. See them at the 9:30 Club in DC. David Ford is back in town doing an XPN Free at Noon at the World Cafe Philly. [...]
Telepathe - Sinister Militia(TMJ remix)
Being simple-minded, we thought an eerie song that begins 'here we go' would be a great way to start the week. Now we're not sure we thought it at all. We think Telepathe used their art school voodoo to make our brains do their bidding. They also want you to know that they're playing Stag and Dagger in May.
Eskimo, in the bleary eyes of 20JFG and its cohorts, is leaping over many other labels in terms of quality and shear taste. Not only have they bought us the stratospherical pastel awesomeness of Aeroplane and the resonating obsidian pyramid stones of Simone Fedi, but now they collect together a ...

So you should check out New York's Telepathe if you haven't already and here's a sunny reworking of their latest 'Chromes On It' by Tan Lines, who are Eric from Brothers /Storm & Stress and Jesse from Professor Murder . mp3: telepathe - chromes on it (tan lines remix).
The problem with Monday shows is that they take place on Monday, and after working all day I am rarely in the mood to go out. I psyched myself up for the show tonight though and actually made it to the venue which I was impressed by, and actually hung around for the first two bands. Sadly it was only two out of four, but it was a good two and I'm sure I'll have more chances to catch Genghis Tron
