Suggested NYC Concerts The Best Indie Shows Hand-picked Each Week Is it really already December? As the year begins to wind down, there are a ton of great bands in town playing shows across Brooklyn and Manhattan. Of all those shows, we're not surprisingly most excited about the one we're putting on at Knitting Factory in Williamsburg on Friday night . I started this blog 3 years ago, and to celebrate our birthday/anniversary, we decided it would be [...]

Photo credit: Malte Cornelius Jantzen The majority of us are down in Austin, Texas for SXSW, but the world doesn't stop turning just because us and a major chunk of the music industry are down South. There are quite a few note-worthy shows, mainly on the larger end of things size-wise, back in New York this week. How will you distract yourself from the fact that you're not in Austin? Sorry, I'm being cruel. Thanks for checking out our suggested New York City indie concerts list! [...]

Teletextile is primarily the project of singer/multi-instrumentalist, Pamela Martinez, who knows a thing or two about creating some powerful indie pop. Teletextile has released a video for the song "I Don't Know How To Act Here" off the band's recent EP Reflector . In the video, Martinez does something that always brings a smile to my face -- she uses a xylophone. Check out the video below. Read more »

Tweet It is a rare treat when a group like Teletextile falls into your lap, and you realize that you have been given the opportunity to share something truly special with others who are bound to be a bit *ahem* blown away. Despite being recorded in June of 2011, I consider this to be my first exciting discovery of 2012. I am bound to be putting some great tunes, such as "I Don't Know How To Act Here" on several mix CDs [...]

The video was directed by by Oliver Ogden with director of photography Kevin Hayden. The band be announcing a North American Summer 2012 tour in the next few weeks.
Tweet vaso link We first became aware of Brooklyn's Teletextile when we were sent their EP, Reflector , at the end of 2010. In fact, we even used this song - "I Don't Know How To Act Here" - in our introductory post. In the intervening 14 months or so since that post, I haven't heard much about the band, until this video got sent around. And you know what? The song is still damn good. "I Don't Know How To Act Here" by Teletextile , off of their recent EP Reflector. The band have recently released a full-length album ( Glass) in Europe via Belgian label Lili is Pi . They plan to tour abroad and in the United States this coming summer.
Video: Teletextile - “I Don’t Know How to Act Here” Teletextile take their indie pop chops inside what looks like Troy and Abed’s blanket fortress from “Community”, but with way more emotional contributing from the Brooklyn band. Shadow puppets! Godspeed!
dreamy-indie-camber-poppers the TELETEXTILE debut their new video for 'I Don't Know How to Act Here' . beautifully shot, watch as the quartet play away .. wotyougot

Lovely Hearts Club Presents: Conveyor - Mukraker We have been hooked on Conveyor ever since their EP "Sun Ray" landed on our doorstep. (Note to bands: handing out your music on freaky orange 123 vinyl is one sure way to get a label to give your demo a spin.) Unfortunately, we caught wind of this Brooklyn based quartet too late and missed out on their CMJ show. Apparently they impressed a few folks so much that We Listen For You [...]

News flash: There's a lot of great music in Brooklyn. If you need proof, just follow the work and the blog of Paper Garden Records . My latest Brooklyn find (well, they found me) is a four-piece by the name of Teletextile . Their Reflector EP is a simple 5 tracks, 4 if you don't count the intro, but it's a really great listen. Personally, I love a band that can get away will using all kinds of instruments without the tracks sounding like a train wreck. Teletextile has no problem [...]
![Brandon’s TBE Digest 30 – [11.3.2011] New Jams, Remixes, & Covers!](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3837268_lg.jpg)
Artwork by Jacob Youngblood Ziegler Brandon's TBE Digest is a place where I gather up all the recent jams that are worth a listen (or 10) but don't necessarily need their own post. Here you will find new tracks by known bands, remixes, covers, and even mashups if they are interesting. My favorites of the lot are in bold . A big batch of goodies this time round. Plus, since it's a nice round number Jacob Youngblood Ziegler hooked us [...]

The funny thing about hearing "Brooklyn-based" as a band descriptor this year is it's finally stopped being a bummer: maybe it's just rising rents forcing out the laptop slackers, but most new Brooklyn bands are pretty good these days! The latest to catch my ears is Teletextile, a band that sounds like PJ Harvey and Broadcast working on new material in a really great-sounding garage. "What If I" pulses with tense bass work even as singer Pamela Martinez makes the line "What if I can't escape?" sound like a surprising, multi-tracked pleasure. It's clever, tuneful, joyous; maybe it's time to [...]
We have had some excellent CMJ shows in the past - last year's show at Cake Shop was packed at one o'clock in the afternoon. But I have to say that this year's bill is really something special. Our means of selection of the the bands is based upon the groups that have "wowed" us in the last year. Of the eight bands on this bill, seven have appeared on nyctaper in the last twelve months (sans Prussia, who we've been trying to see!). Here are the important details: Thursday October 20, [...]

A few weeks ago, we featured the video for Fanfarlo ’s Replicate. Now the band and their label (Atlantic Records) offer previews of that track and Deconstruction . A new LP is expected in early 2012. Their 2009 release, Reservoir , was an absolute gem with folk orchestration. These preview tracks favor arrangements that step closer to late new wave efforts of the eighties and early nineties. Check out: Fanfarlo – Replicate - [...]

What do Fanfarlo fans call themselves? Fansfarlo or Fansfarloes or Fansfarlo's, whatever. Anyway, Brooklyn band Teletextile has remixed the Fanfarlo track "Replicate". Download the remix after the jump and see what Teletextile member Pamela Martinez had to say about it. Read more » http://rpc.blogcatalog.com/ http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ ping
