I like the name The Temper Trap . Some people say that it doesn't matter what you call your band, they say if you are good it will shine through. If that's the case, whatever happened to Reality Ambulance? No, The Temper Trap are good. Their debut album 'Conditions' is a good get up and shine collection of songs. "Love Lost" opens the procedures and goes very well with my first cup of coffee of the day, and I really like the second song "Rest" . [...]

Nostalgia plays a major role in my music listening. If a song can hark back to a specific moment in my life, I am much more emotionally attached to the music, which seems obvious. What is less obvious is the enjoyment I get when I find a new band that encapsulates the sound of an older, more renowned band, and builds on it. While I would say now that U2, and specifically Bono, is one of the most overrated bands on the planet, I admit that I remember fondly the first time I heard "Where the Streets Have No Names" [...]

Remember when I messed up and said Neon Gold was going to release Ellie Goulding? Well, I effed up! Neon Gold, is releasing the debut single of new UK act, Wolf Gang . The 73 is delightful pop songs that make me yearn for days when tape player Walkman's were cool. They have the sound of something that would be on the soundtrack to a John Hughes movie. Wolf Gang have a lot of buzz going around about them. It could be because they are already playing shows with Miike Snow, Marina & the Diamonds, and Temper [...]

Photo courtesy of Amy Mergard . The Temper Trap are an Australian band currently residing in the UK. After the bands debut album, 'Conditions' received great praise in Australia, The Temper Trap decided to up sticks and spread their music throughout the world. The Aussie boys upcoming release is the single 'Sweet Disposition' which is out in the UK August 3rd. Front man Dougy Mandagi's haunting falsetto voice opens the track and immediately grabs your attention. The song then fully kicks in with full backing and [...]

pic:8mts Do you know who Hervé is? Besides being well known for producing some of the wobbliest and hardest tracks on the sphere, and performing at festivals and shows all around the globe...No, he also records as The Count, Voodoo Chilli, Action Man, Dead Soul Brothers, Speaker Junk and Young Lovers, and has a collab project called Machines Don't Care. Must be a confusing life for the man we call Herve. His dub remix of "The Science of Fear" might be my favorite song right now. . [...]

Speeding through leafy trees and Paddock Woods to the far end of the sprawling Kentish countryside, the light at the end of the seemingly infinite tunnel is old Geoffrey Chaucer's prime dormitory hangout, Canterbury. Promenading through tunnels and rolling fields of barley, the setting's quintessentially British, the weather atypically sweltering. This year's LOTF keeps it within the family, the line up composed almost universally of home-grown innovative indie, from Southend garage punksters-turned-shoegazers The Horrors , off-kilter Foals-approved groove mongers The Invisible and Archbishop of UK Hip-Hop Roots Manuva . That said, bar Sunday night home runner [...]

Ever so arty... Clichés? Yes please. Six-foot crops loike them there ones in thaat M. Night Shyamalan filum. Beautiful 'til trampled by runts. The culprit for the collapse of the Strange House. Not everyone hated on it- see Gloves and Draw Japan for former glories. Rockstars require gym memberships these days. Those guns could certainly snap a Donny Tourette chicken leg or two. Dougy Mandagi in all his wife-beating glory. [...]

In a never-ending quest for ceaseless procrastination in between the mild debauchery of weekly festivals, it seems vaguely appropriate to compile some sort of hideously clichéd sounds of the summer thus far collection. In no particular order. Obviously. 1. Golden Silvers- True Romance (True No. 9 Blues) Lyrical perfection from Gwilym Gold and his spangled heroes of the rejuvenated disco generation. 2. Baddies- Battleships Frantic borderline insanity from suited and booted Southend upstarts. With added barking. 3. Jack Peñate- So Near So near yet so [...]

photo: joe penniston Quite a bit of news for you today so I'll start with that. Also apologies I didn't post yesterday, I mistimed it badly. Anyway I forgot to mention the other day that the Arctic Monkeys release their new single, "Crying Lightning" - on Monday. I may grab myself a copy off iTunes but I'm not sure. I've seen some live performances of the song and I'm not overly convinced. If you like their more grown up rock sound, I think it'll be something you enjoy. Also, there's a very [...]
