Keeping things very concise this week with only 9 tracks. I feel like the last few Friday Funk posts have been a little overwhelming with tracks anyway (sarcasm - I'm gonna post as many goddamn tracks as I want). These are all still hand selected tracks - about half are nu disco tracks that have exploded this [...]

This Ben Mono / Georg Baer remix is something I found today on SoundCloud. The original version was released 5 years ago, but even if there's an obvious time distance between these two tracks, this new edit sounds so much better to me. The latest release from Holy Ghost's upcoming album, Wait & See, is pure synth pop gold. I'm a huge sucker for interesting vocal melodies and acoustic piano... so this track has gotten me really excited for the full album to drop. My good friend Alex just recently had the pleasure of seeing Holy Ghost! open for Cut Copy in DC at the 930 Club and he said it was absolutely magical. Love these
Now the following post is one in which the Kunkers have ceded their 'journalistic integrity' in order to allow our good friend and Bavarian synth-disco producer extraordinaire, Justin Faust , take over the steering wheel and post his top 10 for 2010. It's a Kunk exclusive and hopefully will serve as an inspiration point for us to get off our duffs and back on the posting train. So, without further ado - the Justin Bieber Faust Top 10 for 2010! Herr Styler - Snow In Paris Herr [...]

Oh, hey there August. How quickly this summer is vanishing before our eyes. But, a good summer it has been. Besides my annual weeklong escape from reality with tons of friends, July brought us a fantastic Pitchfork Fest, one which I was lucky enough to be able to shoot, a daunting but exciting task to say the least. In case you missed them, check out our pics from the festival here and here . And we also got a chance to interview a few of our faves at the fest, Bear in [...]

You feel that? Yeah, there's a funky groove in the air and we got to let it percolate. Tennishero - " Midnight Love " Smooth as silk synths combined with a captivating riff, Tennishero knows how to do it right. New Order - " Jetstream (Jacques Lu Cont 2nd Mix) " Pretty pedestrian mix until you get to about the 1:40 mark, at which the track blossoms into an ethereal, bass-bumping kick ass mix. Tweet This! Steve Angello has officially released the much anticipated track titled KNAS on Size Records . This track has been haunting me ever since I first heard it at this years Electric Daisy Carnival . KNAS is a relatively simple track that drops fat and hits hard. I will definitely be playing it out at my future gigs. I have a feeling this track will be around for a long time. Grab it and get aquatinted below. Purchase the beautifully crisp 320kbps here . Steve Angello - KNAS [...]

I received this little gem not too long ago and decided it was good enough to share with you folks. British producer George Lenton is the man responsible for creating this wonderful remix of Dizzee Rascal's i luv you . The vocal sample used is psychedelic, yet very appropriate and enjoyable. The heavy synth-bass and the glitchy computer circuitry blend together extremely well to a create grimy track that will be on repeat for a good while. I highly recommend taking this one out for a spin. Grab it below. Dizzee [...]

Just because a track is a few years old, that doesn't mean it shouldn't see the light of day once it's time has passed. And such is the case with "Midnight Love", the house/lounge track from Tennishero , the Swedish duo of Jens Anderrson and Alexander Berg. I would say that compared to it's percentage of the world's population, Swedish music is WAY disproportionately more awesome than you would expect based on the numbers alone. "Midnight Love" is the type of song that has a great beat, but that knows it can make you want to [...]

Many of you may already know about the fabled, Tennishero , a mystery group that has produced some superb and groovy mixtapes, as well as a few singles that transcend time (and probably space). But this is a rundown for those who haven't yet heard the talented duo—and should serve as a reminder for those who had forgot. The first single (released in October '06) by the team was the irresistible "Alone", which features heavy bass and twinkling synths sprinkled over a bouncy and relaxing backbeat. The group tapped one of the more talented vocalists out there, [...]

Sometimes I wonder how much amazing music I'll never have the privelage of discovering. For every lucky find, there's something that will stay forever hidden. Hidden to myself at least. Tennishero is one of those lucky finds - so this post is probably four years too late. But hey better late than never! Judging by the Dealers of Nordic Music Label which released some of their tracks and some funny looking names - Tennishero are a Swedish duo cosprising of Jens Andersson and Alexander Berg - began '06 last release [...]

Links galore! First, those of you wondering how the Lindstrom live PA went, my friend Tyler wrote it up for Pitchfork and I contributed some photos. Check it out here . My review of Erol Alkan's "Golden Skans" rework is also up on Resident Advisor here . And finally, I have to send out baskets full of thanks to one of my favorite critics, Philip Sherburne for linking LWE in his blogroll. Seeing that made me quite proud, as dorky and fanboy as that is. Jesse Somfay, "Cygnus Wreathe (Room 531)" (original [...]
