![[Ticket Giveaway] Snowball Festival: March 8 – 10 + PLAYLIST](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4737349_lg.jpg)
By festie standards, Snowball Music Festival is still relatively young. However, in a few short years they've already put themselves on the map as one of the best in the west. People from all over the US head up to a chilly Colorado mountain town each year to hear some of the best music has to offer. This year's lineup is absolutely ridiculous, which is why we're stoked to give away two sets of tickets. Check out the details below. How to enter the contest 1) "Like" us (The Music [...]
These are my 50 favorite songs released in 2012 I submitted them for this year's Contrast Podcast Festive Fifty. We'll see how many show up in the final vote! In spite of the numbering, I like everything from about #15 to the end of the list about equally. This was an excellent music year for me. One of the reasons I stopped blogging was that I no longer wanted to risk legal action by uploading mp3s. Unfortunately, the WordPress version on our poor, neglected site is now too old to [...]
We have just passed midway point of the year so what better time to take a look at my favourite albums of the year so far? So, yeah, here are my ten albums from the first half of 2012 and as always, feel free to give a shout out to some of your own favourites [...]

"Tennis may be the musical equivalent of that couple that won’t stop posting pictures of themselves kissing on Facebook..." Tennis | Young and Old The back story of Tennis is almost too good to be true. Formed after married couple Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley sailed down the East Coast of the State and wrote some songs while doing so, their 2011 debut Cape Dory was everything you’d expect the output of a couple in love – and who are kooky enough to up sticks and go on the voyage in the first place [...]

Montage Populaire – ‘Reject Reinstall’ Experimental glam pop from UK. These fellas are new on the block, yet act like they own it - convincingly. This song is boisterous, melodic, and inventive with a jovial, harmonious chorus, noisy breaks that channel the art rock of Roxy Music , and playful synth sounds that are reminiscent of Olivia Tremor Control or of Montreal . ‘Reject Reinstall’ is the lead track from their debut EP Not All Bombs Explode. Can’t wait for this one... [...]
That's the band Tennis. Not this (obviously!). They've been working on a new album called Young & Old which is a couple of weeks away from being released. Judging by the two songs on this page, we'll have more of the same. So three and a half minute slices of fuzzy, pretty, sun-infused, piano/guitar pop songs with Alaina Moore's delightful singing over the top. Tennis - Deep In The Woods If you like what you hear [...]

Facebook I originally had this post saved in draft form to mention Tennis ' new (and now old) recordings, beautiful covers of The Zombie's "Tell Her No" and Brenda Lee's "Is It True", faithful to the classic originals in terms of composition and melody and faithful to the duo's own LP in terms of the bright guitar lines and sweet affection of Alaina's gorgeous vocals. Both tracks are available for free from the Tennis' website here . More excitingly though, the Denver based husband and wife duo, expanded to a trio with [...]

Here is this week's music singles chart for the week ending November 13 - 19. Again Grimes is #1 with a song from her upcoming album Visions which drops in 2012. Another great synth poppy electronica track. There are four new debuts from Tennis, Cloud Nothings and many more. Check it out. This Week Last Week Total Weeks Artist Songs [...]

Recorded in Nashville and produced by The Black Keys ’ Patrick Carney Young and Old is the title of Tennis ’ next album, due out via Fat Possum on 14 February 2012. Keeping our ears happy this side of the New Year however is new track ‘Origins’ which you can listen to below ahead of its release on 6 December through Forest Family. The double A-side 7” will come backed with self-produced number ‘Deep in the Woods.’ Tennis - Origins
Here's the track that Tennis mentioned when they dropped their Zombies cover. They released this along with a back story on the song itself and the album which I thought was worth a read so it's attached after the jump. "Origins" is the first preview we get off of their next album Young and Old which will be produced by Patrick Carney of The Black Keys . Origins

Lots of Tennis news today. They have announced their sophomore record, Young and Old , will be out on Valentine’s Day of next year. Patrick Carney of The Black Keys will be producing the record. We also now have the first taste of the new material, with “Origins”. It’s a lot more polished, and I even hear a bluesy aspect that Carney had to have a tiny bit to do with. Deep down though, it’s the same wonderful throwback indie pop that we love so much from these guys. [...]

MP3: Tennis - “Origins” Tennis’ new 7-inch, Origins / Deep In The Woods , will be out next month via Forest Family.

Tweetvaso link Tennis' initial songs held so much promise for me. I have two (or three?) of their initial 73 singles, but their album from earlier this year just didn't do it for me. Everything sounded too similar in the end, and their saccharin pop formula didn't hold up over the course of ten straight...

Cape Dory , the debut LP from married couple/nautically nectarous group Tennis dropped earlier this year with track after track of sweeter than fiction, sailing with no care in the world-type tunes. They announced a follow-up album - Young and Old - which was produced by Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney. Oh, and the album is dropping on Valentine's Day 2012. Go figure. Listen to "Origins" below, the first taste of what seems like will be another album full of irresistibly sweet songs. The little jam bit in the middle is absolutely delicious. [...]

“I’d have him love the thing that was before the world was made...” This line from William Butler Yeats' classic poem A Woman Young and Old has replaced sailboats as Tennis ’s main inspiration for “Origins,” a single off their upcoming sophomore album Young and Old . Since they released Cape Dory last January, the husband-and-wife Denverites (Denvertonians?) have been on a nearly 10-month hiatus, leaving my insatiable craving for maritime-inspired girl-pop jams unfulfilled. Propelled by the [...]
The much anticipated second album from Denver-based Tennis, Young and Old , is set for release February 14, 2012 on Fat Possum Records. What better day to fall in love with this band all over again. You've heard the praise for their breezy pop songs again and again. For good reason too. And they do it once again with "Origins" the first cut off of their new album. The band got together with Black Keys' Patrick Carney to produce their sophomore album in Nashville. I honestly never get sick of their lofi pop sound, and it [...]
