Words by Rick Moslen I discovered Tereu Tereu via a show flyer hanging in my band's practice space—an open room at my drummer's pad where they apparently played a show. During practice I stare at that flyer or stare at an Unwed Sailor flyer with hopes that my bass skills may match Johnathon Ford 's one day (a man can dream). Anyways, I never actually checked out Tereu Tereu 's music—probably because I'm foolish. A few weeks ago I stumbled upon a live acoustic performance of a Tereu Tereu [...]

One of the biggest beefs leveled against this year's SXSW was the continuing trend of big name acts muscling in on what started as an indie event. (cough cough Kanye) For that reason, and in keeping with our policy of championing the underdog, we'll be sharing some of SXSW's unsung heroes over the next couple weeks. First up is Tereu Tereu , a DC-based progressive rawk trio who overcame illness and a crappy early afternoon timeslot to light a fire under MOKB's The Glitter Taco Smoosh Party at SXSW, both on their own, and as [...]

There was time when a great portion of my music interests were centered around and within Washington, D.C. Tereu Tereu give cause for new attention to the area with their 3-song EP NW , coming out April 5th. Listen to "The Body Unmade" from the EP, as well as some more from the band here. Tereu Tereu , "The Body Unmade" The future is now for Washington, D.C.'s Tereu Tereu . After spending several years building a reputation for fiery, exciting live shows, and releasing a well-received EP and full-length album, the band took much of 2010 off to reconfigure its lineup, re-connect as a band, and do lots and lots of songwriting. The band is now set to break out in a BIG way in 2011. In fact, the year already started off with a [...]
I probably don't need to introduce Tacoma's Carol Bui to the MOKB faithful. Feels like we've been stalking her for years now, following her musical, drumming and dance undertakings as she's swapped one coast for the other. And though we're still sitting on our hands waiting for the March 8th release of the powderkeg that is her new Red Ship record, we're positively giddy that Carol and her pals in Tereu Tereu will be rolling into Austin just in time for MOKB's [...]

Editor's note: My good friends Tereu Tereu have hit the road this week for their first tour in over a year, and their first with an almost entirely-new lineup. They've agreed to chronicle the ups and downs of the tour in journal form, and I'll be posting their updates here each day. Be sure to catch them on the road if you can (see dates at bottom of post), and pick up the newly released vinyl edition of their album All That Keeps Us Together here . [...]

Tereu Tereu , "Beyond The Coast" A lesser band than Tereu Tereu wouldn't still be here right now. The band, which formed at Fredericksburg, Virginia's University of Mary Washington, came out of the gate strong in 2007 with a well-received split EP with The Light Footwork , and followed up in 2009 with their debut LP, All That Keeps Us Together , which Pasta Primavera praised as "a compelling blend of classic [...]
Tonight there's nothing but rock going on at the Metro Gallery here in Baltimore when Karmella's Game, Arden, and The Firecrackers take the stage. Also just a reminder that sadly the Bat... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]

Tonight is fairly light for shows, but obviously I wouldn't be writing this post if there was nothing. Down in DC the fab Patrick Wolf brings his show into the Rock and Roll Hotel . Jaguar Love, Living Things, and Plastiscines are also on the bill. Over at the Black Cat locals Tereu Tereu perform with Oblio and Typefighter aslo playing. Finally up north in Philadelphia Appomattox plays Johnny Brenda's opening for The Lemonheads with Its a King Thing also playing. Enjoy! mp3: Tereu Tereu - Beyond The Coast mp3: [...]
Fredericksburg, VA's Tereu Tereu and their new album All That Keeps Us Together are growing on me every time I spin it. It's a compelling blend of classic DC post-punk with elements not usually paired with that genre - soft keys, strings, horns, and booming choruses of backing vocals. If Tereu Tereu just played straight up guitar driven post-punk, they would be a solid band in my book. But they don't. Instead they bring everything but the kitchen sink and then some to their big sound. As a result All That Keeps Us Together [...]
Tonight it's fairly quiet around Baltimore, but if you head down to DC there's a boat load of shows to see. The Rock and Roll Hotel has Her Space Holiday and City Light while the Black Cat has Edie Sedgwick, The Poison Arrows, and Olivia Mancini and the Mates. Also don't miss out on Tereu Tereu's CD Release show at DC9 . Motel Motel, The Deep Vibration, and Roman Candle will also be performing. The Helio Sequence is also playing in the district opening up for Keane at Constitution Hall . Over in Arlington [...]
via shervinfoto.com Now that the summer is more or less here, the area is starting to get some great shows during the week. A few bands are stopping through the area with a couple of dates, so whether you are in Philly, Baltimore or DC, you should get a chance to see them. Here is a run down of the highlights through Thursday. Tuesday DC has the pick of the litter with three great shows to satisfy [...]

A couple of local favorites that we cover regularly are dropping new discs Friday night, unfortunately not in the same place. Harrisburg, PA's Abbey at ABC is the scene for one of the best local line-ups south central PA has seen in a very long time. Pure classic wall of sound style '80s pop is what Hershey's The April Skies are all about. Together since something like 1988, this is their 3rd full-length album since 2005 and their first since late 2006. Don't expect all new stuff though. They always break out the [...]

Yeah, it is about that time for bands to migrate southward towards Austin and the music festival know as SXSW. Philly and Baltimore are very sparse, DC has a bit more. Guess we will see a surge in the coming weeks as bands come home or continue their tours. Still, some great shows to see this weekend. Here is what's happening: Bell X1 (via bands myspace) With their new album Blue Lights on the Runway just released [...]

Tonight here in Baltimore don't miss out on a sweet Hexagon show with Lord Jeff (Ecstatic Peace!), Weekends, Holy Ghost Party, and Polygons. Down in DC Jimmy Eat World rolls into the district to the 9:30 Club with Reubens Accomplice. Finally across the way in Arlington, Virginia Pomegranates take on Iota with Tereu Tereu opening. mp3: Jimmy Eat World - Clarity mp3: Tereu Tereu - Perpetual Motion mp3: Pomegranates - Thunder Meadow

Tonight if you are brave enough to deal with all the ice and snow there's a sweet show over at the Ottobar here in Baltimore. One of our 2008 favorites Eureka Birds will be performing along with Person Parcel, The Owls Go, Tiger Hill, and Whistlin' Charlie. Down in DC it will be night number two of Thievery Corporation's performances at the 9:30 Club . Over at the Black Cat there's a solid local line up with Pree, Tereu Tereu, and Sean Walsh and the National Reserve. Finally if you're looking for that mega show [...]
One of the DC-area bands that I discovered when I first moved down here a year ago was Fredericksburg's Tereu Tereu. The band released an excellent split EP with San Francisco's The Light Footwork (where'd they go?) last year, and has been hard at work ever since on their debut album. Thankfully, that album, entitled All That Keeps Us Together, is now finished, and it's fantastic. Don't take
