I don't about you guys, but I've been insanely tired by 'rock' music lately. Other than Tame Impala's outstanding "Lonerism," and possibly FIDLAR's "FIDLAR," rock records released in the last year+ have bored me to a near-coma and the only reason those two cut through the noise is because 1) Australia and 2) drugs. Enter: Terraplane Sun. These dapper LA cats are adding a little flavor to the traditional rock band-blueprint with the introduction of lap steel, accordian, horns, etc to their super mellow, "Rambling Man"-influenced neo-classic rock. Tomorrow in the Topanga Canyon / Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles, the first Ranch Party festival is going down. It's a great line up of bands and DJs that the expected crowd of 1,000+ are sure to love all day and all night. Venice Beach-based blues/psych rockers Terraplane Sun have just released their latest offering, an EP entitled Friends . They've previously released " Get Me Golden " from the EP, which has found a home on various movie soundtracks and TV shows, and now with its physical release, the band has provided us with another cut from Friends . "Ya Never Know" has a loose swagger that compliments singer Ben Rothbard's nasal twang and rolls along to a persistent piano line, punctuated by a circling organ and subtle stabs of trombone.
