In late 2010, 3 of the "Big 43 ( Slayer , Megadeth , Anthrax ) performed outdoors at the LC. Last night, Anthrax returned with two more of thrash metals biggest bands - Testament and Death Angel for an indoor triple thrash threat. Death Angel started earlier than expected though metalheads had been lined up in front of the LC hours in advance so most didn't miss much of the band's abbreviated 6-song (I think) set. While Testament and [...]
Things haven't been peachy for the members of Anthrax. While on the second leg of their tour with Testament and Death Angel, some ailments have threw a wrench in the band's touring plans. First, drummer Charlie Benante's mother had fallen terminally ill and he, understandably decided to leave the tour to be with her. They ...
Tour blogs are generally boring affairs, but this new video tour blog from Death Angel is a must-watch. In case you didn't know: not only is Gene Hoglan filling in for Charlie Benante on the current Anthrax/Testament/Death Angel tour, but right before Benante was forced to leave the tour, Scott Ian was hospitalized due to [...]
Charlie Benante's mother is terminally ill. Although I know I've busted Anthrax's collective chops over the years, this is obviously terrible news. We are deeply sympathetic, and our hearts go out to the guy. Speaking from experience, I can tell you that there really isn't anything anyone can say to make you feel better in [...]

British beatboxer Shlomo had announced his Voctronica project last year and called for people with exceptional vocal talents (ranging from beatboxing to singing) to apply for the opportunity to be part of a vocal orchestra. Shlomo worked with many beatboxers and musicians in India since his last visit and explained that Voctronica is a culmination of the vocal orchestra idea (more on his thoughts about Voctronica here ). Upon looking through the candidates that applied, a few talented individuals were selected along with Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy (of Scribe ) to form Voctronica. The [...]
In short: Yes, yes it is. We're not entirely sure why Dez Fafara (DevilDriver, Coal Chamber), Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio), Rob "Blasko" Nicholson (Prong, Rob Zombie, Danzig, Ozzy Osbourne), and John Tempesta (White Zombie, Testament, The Cult) decided it would be a good idea to team up and cover 'Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer' (for the Metal Christmas album, We Wish You A Merry Xmas and a Headbanging New Year ). Neither are we quite sure whether or not the beyond OTT nature of the result in any way justifies the idea's inherent stupidity. [...]

Anthrax, Testament, and Death Angel recently wrapped what was, by all accounts, an awesome, awesome tour. But if you missed it, don't be too sad - all three bands are hitting the road together again in January! You can dates here. Of course, you can also live vicariously via some typically killer photos our own [...]

Italian prog metal maestros Ephel Duath are really just an Italian prog metal maestro, singular - the band has gone through something like 1,864,093 line-up changes since 1998, with guitarist Davide Tiso being the only constant. Do hardcore Ephel Duath fans consider that a total bummer, or do they not care? Regardless, this news should make [...]
The Anthrax, Testament, Death Angel tour package is working out so well for all three bands that they've decided to add a second leg to the tour. So far, seven dates have been announced, with enough gaps in between that will eventually be filled out for a proper US run. Here are the dates that ...
Anthrax, Testament, and Death Angel is a great bill for a tour, and according to my man Anso DF, the resulting concert was not a disappointment. (Alyssa Lorenzon captured some killer photos from the tour, too; we'll post those at some point very soon.) And I guess Anso's not the only one who felt that [...]
A few weeks back we reported that Testament was enlisting some heavy hitter hired guns to play drums on their new album due to an injury suffered by then-current drummer Paul Bostaph. The band got Chris Adler and Gene "The Machine" Hoglan to fill in on drumming duties for their new album, The Dark Roots ...
British beatboxer Shlomo , who toured India last year, will conduct a new project, Voctronica in India next month. He is organizing Voctronica with the support of the British Council and in association with hip hop platform, Zomba . The aim of Voctronica is to create India's first beatboxing vocal ensemble; this will be a search for the country's best beatboxers and vocalists. Vocalists and beatboxers who wish to participate should register for the project by uploading a short audition (not more than five minutes long) onto YouTube and then include the link when registering [...]
Photos by Brian Schroeter The guys of Anthrax go to south and southeast Asia for a week of shows with Hellyeah, but their current US run with Testament finished a couple days ago. Since the return of glory-era singer Joey Belladonna, the Anthrax world is a fishbowl to which I have pressed my face. So [...]

Sleep (A Tribute To Dilla) by Shag Everybody does it, I know, but J Dilla has influenced me in too many ways. I needed to give something back, and this is the only way I feel I could do it in any respect. His music alone has pushed me to do so many things, to keep trying, to be unique in my sound, to not conform to what sound is 'popular,' to enjoy all forms of music, etc, etc. So many people can tell you he's had the same influences on them, and [...]

Anthrax returns with Joey Belladonna back in the lineup. Belladonna, the band's frontman at the peak of their popularity in the late 80's and early 90's, has been part of a revolving door of vocalist to lead the band since he rejoined the band in 2005 for a one-time only reunion tour after his departure in 1992. Despite the reunion tour's success, the band went on with former Armored Saint vocalist and Belladonna's original replacement John Bush and then even a brief [...]
In a bit of tragic news, we learned that guitarist and producer James Murphy, known for his work with Death, Testament and countless other acts, has suffered a relapsed brain tumor after having surgery to remove in in 2001. This is no fun whatsoever, and you can be sure it's really expensive to treat. Seeing ...
Rarely do we just cut and paste press releases here at MetalSucks, but this is obviously a special circumstance, and you should know all the details without any of our usual editorializing. And so: James Murphy, former guitarist of both Death and Testament, As well as founding member of the death metal band Disincarnate, has [...]
When Anthrax, Testament and Death Angel fall tour dates were announced a few months ago, there appeared to be a hole in the schedule on November 16. This left metalheads in central Ohio with a little bit of hope that PromoWest would deliver a killer bill at one of their venues. But within hours of the initial tour announcement, the Alrosa Villa posted info about a one-off Death Angel show thus eliminating any chance of the full bill hitting Columbus. Back in my formative [...]
