Texas is the Reason have announced what they're calling their "final shows ever." The shows take place primarily in Germany and the UK with a single stop in Spain as well. The band reunited last year and along with some tour dates , released a remastered discography with two new songs called Do You Know Who You Are? - The Complete Collection in 2013.

Photos and words by Debi Del Grande Yes, we went a little emo. I didn't see any grown men crying in the crowd as Texas is the Reason played its final show in LA at The Fonda, but singer/guitarist Garrett Klahn was visibly emotional. Chris Daly stood out quite a few times with his insane drumming skills as guitarist Norman Brannon (Arenas) and bassist Scott Winegard gave it everything they had one last time. [View with [...]

THIS WEEK'S BEST BET: Alt-J w/ Hundred Waters Wednesday, March 6 Masquerade - 695 North Avenue NE in Atlanta 30308 SOLD OUT! The annual music migration to Austin and SXSW has begun which means there's a crazy amount of quality live music in town this week. It's insane, really. Which kind of makes me feel like an asshole for highlighting a sold out Alt-J show for my top pick considering, well, unless you already have a ticket you're sort of shit out of luck. [...]

Maybe it was the Texas Is The Reason show I recently went to, but I've been listening to a lot of Dag Nasty as of late. Along with other DC pioneers Embrace (Ian Mackaye's band in between Minor Threat and Fugazi), Dag Nasty help pave the way for melodic hardcore back in the 1980s. Released back in 1986, Dag Nasty's debut Can I Say contains 10 jams that influenced many melodic/post hardcore bands. Take their song "Under Your Influence" for example, you can see where Texas Is The [...]

Legendary post-hardcore/emo vets Texas Is The Reason brought their reunion tour to Union Transfer Saturday night for one last show here in Philadelphia. For just the second time in 15 years, New York City four-piece Texas Is The Reason picked up the pieces again and set out on the road across the United States. Since their final show in Germany in 1997, the only other time the band has come back together was for two shows for the 10-year anniversary of their only full length album, Do You Know Who You Are? [...]
Texas Is The Reason twice in less than 6 months... am I lucky, or what? Saturday night I got a chance to see Texas Is The Reason again with some friends, only this time I stayed pretty close to home heading out to Philly's own Union Transfer. I missed Title Fight (confession time: I'm not a huge Title Fight fan although I heard their new album is killer... maybe I'll give them another listen) but made it with plenty of time to see Texas Is The Reason. Preparing for a night of melancholy post hardcore, TITR [...]
Philly punk rock heavyweights Title Fight opened the show at a packed Union Transfer on Friday night, opening for reunited emo four-piece Texas Is The Reason. Check out scenes from the show in the photo gallery above. Continue reading
Do You Know Who You Are? compiles the short and illustrious discography of one of post-hardcore's most beloved bands; a near-perfect album for the time, that today serves as a playbook for modern post-hardcore. Within the broad microcosm that is music whose origins date back to the days of early punk, the genre most often confused and unfairly attached to anything moderately aggressive and remotely emotive is unequivocally, post-hardcore. It's a genre frequently mistaken for the interception between emo and hardcore, but most accurately described by the definition of its title as it was originally understood [...]
Filed under: 47 Second Review Revelation Records Listening to Texas Is the Reason 's only album, 1996's Do You Know Who You Are? , is an interesting experience. Without context, you get all the flavors of the emo rainbow: A little bit of Sunny Day Real Estate , the edge of Superchunk and the punk fire of Jawbreaker . Songs like "Nickel Wound" and "Johnny on the Spot" provide that [...]

Brett and I met up a little before 9:30pm at KSVR , spent a few minutes catching up, then organized the selection of records we would play that night. It was a first for me - having a co-host - and it turned out to be a blast. Friday nights from 10pm to midnight can be lonely and I don't get many calls, so having someone else in the studio to talk to was definitely an enjoyable experience. For this evening, we chose a theme of the 90s, courtesy my [...]
