It's been a pretty good week here at the Louie household. I can't tell you why it's been a pretty good week… let's just say that I didn't not and in no way maybe sorta kinda eat a hamburger. Yes, a hamburger. Yes, I abandoned my diet when my buddy President Obama-McDonald took me to this burger joint called "Burger Joint." He told me he frequented the establishment often on his road to the White House, and even decided to end the combat in Iraq whilst biting into a cheeseburger there. Here's what he looked like: [...]
Thad Cockrell . Some sunny Nashville pop/county for this Friday. Download the song or watch a performance below. - Joel Thad Cockrell - "Rosalyn"
To Be Loved était à la base un EP sorti

I never have understood the term 'critically acclaimed.' I mean, if the acclaim of critics is important enough to note at every chance, shouldn't people (record companies for one) take their opinions more seriously. The term instead has become a stigmatic warning that equates to one saying "this record didn't sell shit, but I - and a few of my colleagues - really dig it." But it really is a shame that the opinions of some of the most qualified music aficionados out there fall upon deaf ears. The people that [...]

i've been flipping back and forth from tonight's CMA Awards, and i swear it's the funniest thing on TV.... well, it would be if weren't dead serious. It's like a dogshow in that the only people that really care about it are the ones there on the stage. But the sad thing is, these idiots are put there by real people, who really like this music, really buy it... really sing along. They make it a lucrative business. Why else do you think Jessica Simpson and Hootie jumped on the bandwagon? The [...]

Caitlin Cary & Thad Cockrell: Second Option [ purchase ] Begonias is a collaboration album from Whiskeytown violinist Caitlin Cary and Nashville songwriter Thad Cockrell . Caitlin released a couple of solo albums after the dissolution of Whiskeytown as well as two albums with Tonya Lamm and Lynn Blakely – together known as Tres Chicas . Thad also put out two discs before the duo teamed up to make Begonias. I've been meaning to say something about [...]

While Sunday is the official last night of the festival -closing out with a special Next Big Nashville edition of Nashville Sunday Night at 3rd and Lindsley - Saturday night is the last real night of showcases, and you have nine to choose from before the official after party at City Hall. My pick of the evening is actually that after party - The Features and Jensen Sportag ? Sign me up. But earlier in the night you have lots of great stuff to choose from - particularly the Lake Fever showcase at [...]

Two months ago I had All We Seabees on my show to guest-DJ, and along with all of the other excellent stuff the guys in the band played, David introduced me (and everyone who was listening) to local singer-songwriter Thad Cockrell , via the new tune "A Country Of My Own." Personal recommendations go a long way when you're inundated with as much music as I am, and David's endorsement was nothing short of glowing. So yesterday when I received an email about Cockrell's new EP, To Be Loved [...]
